I was reading how a guy who worked with John a short lived FOX series said John was a great guy of course but he said he "smoked like a fiend" and I've heard in other places too that he was a chain smoker.

So is that the same as what you guys have heard? Any links to back that up officially?

That probably contributed to his aortic dissection and early death. :(

I don't think John smoked since Three's Company ended.

I doubt that because people saw him smoke after TC like on his short lived FOX series. It's pretty hard for a former heavy smoker to complete quit for the rest of his life.

John probably quit for a while but then probably started again and went on and off kind of like how Peter Jennings did.

Yeah, I read that, too. As for John being a chain smoker, I wouldn't have the slightest idea.
