Britney Spears' latest single If U Seek Amy is facing the axe from U.S. radio station playlists over its controversial lyrics.
The Toxic hitmaker's forthcoming record features the chorus "All of the boys and all of the girls are beggin' to, If You Seek Amy", with the last four words sounding like "F--k me" when sung quickly.
And many DJs are now set ban the track as it is too offensive to broadcast, according to Patti Marshall of Cincinnati's Q102 radio station.
She tells MTV, "It's okay to put in on an album, have fun with it, but we're publicly owned, you know? We have a responsibility to the public, you put this... out and act like we're all fuddy-duddies, like we're trying to make moral judgments.
"It's not about us. It's about the mom in the mini-van with her eight-year-old."

Supposedly the radio version edits out "If" making it obvious. If they weren't censoring it, most people wouldn't think of it as anything other than "If You Seek Amy" which is the name of the song. Stupid.

the song hasn't even been released to radio yet and most likely won't be for at least a few more months considering Circus has only been out for 6 weeks....it hasn't been "banned", it's just causing some controversy over whether or not the song really should be censored on radio or not, or if it's even appropriate enough for radio.
personally i'd be surprised if there wasn't some sort of edit on the song on the radio. if they had to censor out "gun" in Rihanna's Unfaithful...

^What?
Anyhow, "If U Seek Amy" is one of my least favorite songs from Circus. "Unusual You" should be the third single instead.

i agree, If U Seek Amy is one of the weakest tracks from her new album. i like Unusual You but i'm not sure how it would do on radio...i think Out From Under shouldve been the 3rd single and i hope its the 4th. i think that song has the potential to be another Everytime for her if not bigger.

I loved If You Seek Amy when I first heard it, but I'm pretty much over it now. Apparently the single is going to be If You See Amy when it's sent to radio... which pretty much defeats the whole purpose.
Unusual You FTW!

Apparently, Madonna is slated to play the "role" of Amy in the video. BTW, I'm still surprised when I come across people who still don't get the meaning of this song.

I'd imagine every red-blooded male in the world with a pulse would most definately still want to "If You Seek" Britney! I know I sure would want to!

I have heard this song and have the remix of it on my copy of B In The Mix Britney's Remix Collection and I cannot see where you can get swear words out of the words if and seek and the name Amy because I bet why Britney Spears decided to ban this song in 2009 was because kids were copying the actions of the song and parents were getting concerned because this was not really healthy for kids. If you recall Prince had the exact thing when his song Darling Nikki was released to radio in 1984 and the song was banned because of the lyrics. This thing with inacceptible music for kids started in the 80's when parents were letting kids listen to rock music but parents were concerned because the rock stars had a image not suitable for kids and the lyrics of the rock songs had swear words that kids were repeating which lead to the debut of the Parental Advisory label in the 90's. For this song Britney Spears album Circus should've been given a Parental Advisory label. But the remix of If You Seek Amy that I have has the original lyrics intact. So I think Britney did a wrong thing by doing this and should've done the same thing that Janet Jackson did when she released the album All For You and her song Would You Mind was banned because of the lyrics and when that happened Janet Jackson rereleased All For You in an explicit and edited version without Would You Mind in the tracklist and now the original version of Janet Jackson's All For You album is a collector's item. But I think this was the start of Britney's new image before she married Kevin Federline and went crazy and she proved that she was no longer the sweet girl next door type of teen and was now a woman
