Great pics! Steve Landesberg looks almost the same as he did during the show! So does Ron Glass except the hair and stache are white. And I still can't get used to seeing Max Gail without the toupee. Anyway it was fun to see current pics of the cast. Thanks for the link!!

Having the cast sit around and talk about their favorite episodes and maybe some bloopers that we never saw would be terrific -- lots & lots of people would watch -- I certainly would!

"Barney Miller" is one of the most underrated sitcoms, ever.

It never seems to be mentioned in any of the "Best" lists that pop up constantly online and on TV, and yet it remains one of the shows that holds up the best with repeated viewings (and it was pretty awesome when it was airing during first run, which I am old enough to remember!).

So yeah, bring on a reunion. I'm sure TVLand could arrange something like that; just cut the "cougar"'s pay a bit and or let go of the one the high school stereotypes that populate that other show and you've got cash on the barrel for the "Barney Miller" reunion. :)

Especially since the DVD sets have NO extras - and I'm sure the guys would be game for a retrospective. :D

I'm guessing one thing that might make them hesitate is the absence of so many fellow co-workers. Danny Arnold, Jack Soo, Ron Carey and James Gregory are all gone and they might be hesitant to do a show without them.

But it's just like a family reunion, I suppose. Just because some (or even most) of the family is gone doesn't mean the family itself is gone.

I hope it happens. :)

Not to mention Florence Stanley (Bernice). But that's all the more reason to do a retrospective now - while we still have the rest of them!!

It was heart warming to see the cast. But I did miss not seeing Gregory Sierra. I wonder if he was busy with something else and couldn't attend or if there are other reasons why he didn't attend.

He was a vital member of the cast during season the first and second seasons. And good, too. I hope when he left the show everything was cool and there are no lingering issues. When a cast member leaves a show early on and the show goes on to have a long and succesful run, you wonder what kind of feelings that person might have deep down.

Yeah, I never was able to find out why he left. But he did later on become the star of AES Hudson Street, which was created by the Barney Miller brain trust (including Danny Arnold). Too bad it folded after only 5 episodes in 1978. :(

I think a retrospective with the surviving cast members would be the only realistic way to go. A reunion show with the actors reprising their roles would be...bordering on parody. They're far too old to be playing police detectives, although I could somehow see Abe Vigoda getting comic mileage out of it.

I know his character retired and all, but anyway....

Maybe some reminisces from some of the show's writers and production personnel, too.

YES!!! Plus, Hal Linden turns 80 (!!!) in March. ABC, TV Land, SOMEBODY get all these guys (and Barbara Barrie) together in one room with a camera - NOW!!!!

Hmmm, that is a very good point. I did not even think of that; so, hopefully, they will have a reunion special. But, let's hope, and pray, that Abe Vigoda, is both alive and well, to see the 40th Anniversary of Barney Miller.

I am not that worries about Hal Linden; he seems to be perfectly fine, and healthy as an ox, even at 80; and besides, long longevity runs in his family.

He doesn't look all that much different than he did when he was playing Barney!! He's been married to the same woman for 50+ years. I still think it's a better idea to do a retrospective than a scripted movie with them in character. Does anyone really want to see all the guys playing shuffleboard??

Still, when you're dealing with this kind of age factor, you want to act sooner rather than later. Not everyone is as healthy and with it like Betty White as they're nearing 90,

I wish the latter seasons of Barney Miller would be continued to be released on DVD. The 4th and 5th seasons were my favorite; and it would be a treat to see these eps unedited. (TV Land literally, butchered, their shows: the editing was terrible!)

Many of the studios have put the brakes on releasing their classic shows on DVD. They blame the economy and say it's more profitable for them to concentrate on their current shows. :( Hopefully they'll get back to it soon!

Now I'm even angrier.   We just lost another cast member and they'll all be gone before someone even considers doing a retrospective. Though I doubt anyone saw it coming that we'd lose Steve Landesberg before Abe or Hal - Steve was the youngest of the regulars!!

See, reunion planners, this is what happens when you sit on your hands. You cheat the cast/crew AND the fans - not as if you care.
