I'm still wondering why CBS isn't coming out and cancelling this show already. Normally, they cancel shows right after they've ended. But with Swingtown, it ended on Friday, September 5th, and now its Friday, January 9th, and they still haven't officially announced.
That would lead me to believe that an official decision hasn't been made. I doubt it'll be back on CBS, because CBS is the "old-people" network. They tried Swingtown, but their "old-people" audiences just passed it up because, well, it wasn't CSI or a CSI-like show. I still think it may have a chance on Bravo, though. That would probably be the best bet at this point. They're already aired 2 marathons of the show - so, the first one must have done well.
But, my question is, if CBS were to air Swingtown this midseason, this month, do you think it would have been a hit? It was airing in the summer, Fridays at 10pm, so obviously ratings were going to be low. But lets say it was airing like Sundays at 10pm, in January - would it have done well? I think it would have been a modest hit, maybe 9-10 million at best. But overall, it would have done better on a network like ABC. It would have been a perfect match with a show like Desperate Housewives.
I also think if CBS would bring it back in the summer, it would do much better this summer than it did last season. I think viewers found it after it ended its season - either on Bravo, or over the internet, or on DVD. People realized this wasn't a show about "swinging," but the new lifestyles and changes of 3 couples and their families during the sexual revolution of 1976.
Sorry to rant :D
