How come the Evan's family never watched TV, I only saw them watch TV a couple of times in season 1 and season 2, ----that was when they won the lottery, watching the pastor and when James won the award. Meaning the Evans family only watched TV 1 thru 3 times a year for 2 years.  :happyface

How can sitcom characters watch TV? That would make for a very boring episode

Here are a few more off the top of my head:

Junior the Senior: Michael & Thelma were watching some kind of Western
while JJ was studying.
Florida's Operation: Thelma was watching a soap opera.
Florida's Night Out: Florida was watching a soap opera.
The Hustle: The kids were watching a basketball game while Florida was
dusting.
Something Old, Something New: JJ was watching a basketball game, but
Thelma turned off the TV and pulled
out the knob.

We never saw them watch TV, but they referenced it many times. I guess we have to assume they did watch TV. They all made reference to Redd Foxx, the Waltons, Jackie Gleason, and Walter Conkrite. So they did watch TV, but we never saw them "watching". But, they were poor, and in the 4th season, they had to sell the tube for rent money.

Sanford and Son and the Jeffersons mentioned the Waltons quite a bit too. Me personally, I never got into the Waltons.

They watched more TV than the Waltons.
