I watched it, and when Conan introduced Tim as having starred in "Wings", the audience applauded. So once Tim sat down, Conan mentioned to him how people still love "Wings" to this day. Tim mentioned how when they first started the show, the critics HATED them. And he finds it funny that now it's such a beloved show.

Tim Daly also mentioned that during his "Wings" days, if he was on an airplane, some passengers would joke and say things like "If anything happens to the pilot, you can fly the plane." lol

Tim also mentioned that sometimes other actors will go to him and say "Do you remember when you did (gives a memory) on Wings?" And Tim said that he's got a bad memory and doesn't remember a whole lot of what he did, lol.

I was so surprised that they talked about "Wings." But I'm glad they did. :)

He was on Good Morning America this morning, too. I think the Private Practice people are trying to promote the show's new timeslot after Grey's. I must say Tim has aged quite well. He still looks good and from the traffic I see on the net, he has this new sex symbol status that people are talking about. I admit I watch Private Practice just because he's on it. I'm hoping that someone will be smart enough to bring on one of the Wings gang to do an arc or cameo or something. We need it. I'm really hoping that they'll bring Crystal. That would just make my day.

I really believe it was the critics who kept people from watching the show when it origionally aired. If more people had given Wings a chance back then, I bet it would have been as big a hit as Cheers, Seinfeld, Friends, and the other megahits of that era.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I'll never understand the animosity towards Wings.

He was also on The View that day (definitely making his rounds). I'd never seen that show in my life but I set an alarm so I could digitize it. No doubt he is aging well, yikes. He had a weird moustache thing going on (reminded me a bit of his character in The Outsider), but he's handsome as hell, always will be. I've had a crush on that guy since the first time I saw Wings (first season I believe, maybe second), it was just a big, fat bonus that the entire cast was so fabulous and funny and hooked me until the end.

So toward the end of his little visit on The View (no Wings talk, though he did toss the show title out in passing), they showed a still of his son, who had a small part on Grey's Anatomy. I just loved what he said after they showed the still: "Look at him, that's my boy... Wow, I love that kid so much... I miss him really bad right now. I am very proud of him. He's a good boy. I have a lot to learn from him -- he's cooler, smarter, stronger, funnier, more talented, more charming... he's my hero." And now his sister, Tyne Daly (haaa, Mimsy!) will be playing the role of Patrick Dempsey's mom on Grey's Anatomy -- another show I've never seen. Daly folks all over the place, keep 'em comin'!

It was nice to see him without his "rims of late" -- the thick, black glasses he's taken to wearing since his resurgence. Sure, they make him look hip and a little younger I suppose, because they cover up the wrinkles, but his wrinkles look great! It's nice to see somebody aging gracefully and not getting surgery. If he ever pulls a Kenny Rogers I'll cry.

Here's his appearance (wearing the rims) on Craig Ferguson's show on Sep 30th:

Quite fine if you ask me, never been just a pretty face.
