If so, what did they say? sigmapi30 02-28-2009, 03:18 PM I havent, but i think we need to start flooding them with emails again. It's been quite a while since S7 of TGG came out. McGillicuddy 04-05-2009, 12:05 PM I always felt they should have included The Golden Palace as a bonus to the final season DVD release of TGG. I would rather season 7 was followed up with a separate release of the complete series of The Golden Palace. I just don't understand why this isn't released. Wouldn't the vast majority of GG fans that own the entire series purchase this? Its a rare treat to many to see the furthur adventures of Rose, Blanche, Sophia and even Dorothy who came back for 2 episodes. Even if some don't like this premise, or think it "jumped the shark", its still out there and would complete the Golden Girls DVD collection! browneyes106 04-20-2009, 02:05 PM I'll send an email later today. I didn't think The Golden Palace was bad at all . I think it could have had a few more seasons. I really do hope it gets released on DVD someday I think most GG fans would buy it. Movie12 04-30-2009, 11:48 AM browneyes106, Did you e-mail Buena Vista? If so, what did they say? Yes, I do agree with you that The Golden Palace could have had a few more seasons. Disney/Buena Vista continue to respond to my emails with a generic response. Yes I am still very pleased to see that many fans are still voting for The Golden Palace, but it's definitely time to hear something about a DVD release. Disney/Buena Vista released the last season of The Golden Girls in February 2007. All I know is that I am tired and tired of all this waiting for a DVD release. I sure hope that we hear some word soon about The Golden Palace getting released on DVD. I wish Disney/Buena Vista would stop replying with the same generic response every time someone e-mails them in regards of The Golden Palace. And are these good (encouraging) numbers?? Movie12 11-11-2009, 10:40 AM I'm curious, whats the difference between unreleased rank and overall rank? And are these good (encouraging) numbers?? I was wondering myself, so I actually e-mailed David Lambert on tvshowsondvd.com asking him what the difference is between a unreleased rank and a overall rank. I had mention to David that The Golden Palace unreleased rank is 98th and the overall rank is 399th. And I asked David if they were good encouraging numbers. Here's the response that I got back from David: "Imagine that there are just 5 TV shows ever, instead of thousands and thousands. In this imaginary world, the only 5 shows are Charmed, Wonder Years, Batman, MacGyver and Star Trek. In this scenario, that order I just named them in is the order of their overall popularity among registered members of our site. So the Overall Rank is #1 for Charmed, #2 for Wonder Years, etc. Charmed, MacGyver and Star Trek are all released on DVD already. Wonder Years (due to music rights issues) and Batman (due to character rights issues) are not released. So Wonder Years is #1 among all unreleased titles. Batman likewise has an Unreleased Rank of #2. Get it? So, in the real world, among every TV show in history that is listed at our site, our registered members have voted MOST for Charmed. Wonder Years is overall #3, but is the #1 unreleased-on-DVD show. Golden Palace is #399 among all shows, released or unreleased. But among all shows it is #98. Yes, those are pretty good numbers. However, those numbers don't seem to have an effect on the rights-holders, ABC/Disney, because among their HUGE library of TV properties, they only seem to be concentrating on releases of either current shows (Grey's Anatomy, Lost, etc.) or cartoons/kid shows (X-Men, Power Rangers RPM, etc.). So I don't anticipate a Golden Palace release on DVD any time soon, unless ABC/Disney decides to offer it out to another "independent" studio (Lionsgate, Shout!, Image, etc.) under a license deal. To my knowledge, that hasn't been offered up until now." We can only hope that ABC/Disney, Lionsgate, or Shout! will release The Golden Palace on DVD sometime in the future. The sooner the better would be nice. Let's keep our fingers crossed. I was thinking the same exact thing. It definitely would have boost up sales if The Golden Palace had been included with the complete series of The Golden Girls box set. The Golden Palace has an excellent fan base on tvshowsondvd.com and Disney/Buena Vista and Shout! Factory both know that. I have no idea why it is still not released yet on DVD. I just hope one of those studios will release The Golden Palace sometime in 2011. I think Golden Palace should have been included in the dvd releases of The Golden Girls as extras in the complete series release. Movie12 02-16-2017, 10:42 PM I totally agree it should have been included! Dorothy did play on 2 episodes which was a 2 part episode. bandonurse 02-17-2017, 12:10 PM "Without Dorothy the show wasn't the same." Well, it wasn't the same for several reasons. But for me, it was still very much worth watching. It was fun to see the girls in an entirely new environment, and interacting with entirely new people. (Cheech Marin and Don Cheadle's characters especially) We also got to see what Charlie Nylund looked like, and learned that Blanche had another, handicapped brother. I also enjoyed seeing Rose start to stick up for herself, and bravely argue against the overbreeding of Greyhounds. I wholeheartedly agree that it should have been included in season seven's DVD, but of course it's too late for that now. I already have a rather "amateurishly" done set from a company that recorded it on a VCR. Despite that, I would spend the money to have a set done professionally. Movie12 02-17-2017, 12:58 PM It was totally worth watching! It has so many great episodes, more cheesecake, and more laughs! I loved seeing the girls in their new journey running a hotel. The new people they met were also funny. They still could release a Complete Series set of The Golden Girls and include a Complete Series set of The Golden Palace. I wish Betty White would notify Buena Vista Home Entertainment who put out the season sets of The Golden Girls on DVD and tell them to release The Golden Palace on DVD. If Buena Vista Home Entertainment didn't want to release The Golden Place than Shout! Factory always could. The Golden Palace has been listed on amazon.com with an option on there to be notified if there will be a release. There is also an online petition that has been out for a really long time and the show has a great fan base. Let's hope it gets released on DVD. |
