I was wondering why was Jack Soo not in the episode Heat Wave.

There were a few episodes he wasn't in that season. He was shot in the previous episode, "Ambush", so I guess Yemana was just off-screen recovering.

1978-79...Jack died in January 1979, and that year's season finale was the Jack Soo Retrospective.

I think he is probably one of the most underrated supporting actors in a sitcom. His comedy came so naturally.

Natural - that is the perfect word to describe Jack Soo's performance as a guest star on M*A*S*H. Jack played a black marketeer to whom Hawkeye and Trapper eventually traded Henry's one of a kind antique desk for much needed hydro-cortisone. Jack's performance was laid back, relaxed and natural. And also very funny.

Jack was also great in the movie Flower Drum Song, where he also sang and danced!! I think all Barney Miller fans would get a kick out of Jack in this movie. He also played the role of Sammy on Broadway.
