Bobbie Oberholtzer and Annette Schnee were both murdered while hitchhiking.

In the Swedish hitchhikers case, they did find the person they were looking for but at nothing on who the guy was or if he had been charged.

The Orange Sock murders in Breckinridge Colorado in the early 80's was a hitchhiking case as well!

The 1987 suicide of an unidentified woman in Dana Point, California. She was believed to have been hitchhiking through the state.

Bernice Coutermanche became a victim of the NH serial killer while hitchhiking.

It seems there's a lot of hitchhiking in UM even when the individuals involved don't become victims because of that particular action---especially in mental illness/amnesia cases:

Patricia Meehan
Gail Delano (in a very broad sense)
Maria Armstrong? (Didn't she hitchhike out of the Indian reservation she had been wandering around?)

The Grateful Dead fan "Jason" Doe was thought to be hitchhiking when he was killed in a car accident. Poor kid.

Don't know if we can actually "count" this one, but technically the guy Charles Holden gave a ride to was hitchhiking, since he was out asking for rides from strangers.

Yeah, I think watching UM has made me terrified to death of ever picking up a hitchhiker. I'm a big guy, strong, physically fit, know how to defend myself, yet I wouldn't do it in a million years

Oh man, I know it is probably wrong, but I totally laughed at "hitchflying".

Those guys deserve massive, massive props. The guy that gave them a ride scared them, they got out and right away called the cops.
