Larry Fitzgerald -- the star wide receiver for the Arizona Cardinals -- has been ordered to stay away from his baby mama and his 11-month-old son after he allegedly knocked her around a room and pulled her hair out.

Angela Nazario claims she brought the couple's son to visit Larry at his Phoenix home last October when the former lovers began arguing.

Nazario alleges in her legal papers filed in Arizona, Fitzgerald attempted to "diffuse the situation" by raising his fist and challenging her to a play fight. Nazario admits she responded by swinging at him and "may have hit his face."

Fitzgerald then turned from playful to enraged, allegedly pushing Nazario down to her knees. She claims he "grabbed me by my hair with both hands on the back of my head very very hard and tossed me across the room."

Later, when she tried to leave with her son, Nazario says Fitzgerald "grabbed the back of my neck and slammed me down on the marble floor ... [I] was disoriented for awhile and could not get up, I remember he mumbled something about 'that's what happens when you try taking my son away from me.'" As she got in the car to leave she realized she had lost "chunks" of hair.

Calls to Fitzgerald have not been returned.

Okay.. just a clarification...

October of 2007 or October of 2008?

Has this been reported before?

I don't buy it.

It hasn't been reported on Yahoo Sports, ESPN, or SI.com.

Why should I believed something from something as ridiculous as TMZ?

TMZ first reported this today so October, 2008 seems most likely

It doesn't have to be first-reported on Yahoo, ESPN or SI to have any merit. This story is also being reported from other sources.

This story is also being reported from other sources.

They all link back to the TMZ article- basically reporting the same thing.

This is not new news Charles, but thanks for posting it. It's probably true, but it's either from a couple months ago or from a year and a little bit ago, or the story is true, but it's not about Larry Fitzgerald.

Oh I am so sorry, I had no idea that you were the one that determined what is and isn't news. It was posted yesterday on the TMZ site and it was the first I'd heard about it so it was news to me. Next time I have some alleged news to post I'll be sure to get clearance from you before doing so.

What the hell's your problem? I wasn't mad at you. I just said, it doesn't look like recent news, but I could be wrong. I don't have a problem with you posting it, but TMZ is not a valid source. If I heard 100 news pieces on TMZ, probably 15 were correct, or accurate for that matter. Other people in this thread said it wasn't recent news, yet I am the one getting yelled at.

Who's it about then?

Who's it about then?

I don't know. But I checked SI.com, ESPN.com, yahoo sports and the arizona cardinals website and no news on it. Like I said, it could be him, but it also could be news from 3 months ago or a year ago. Or it hasn't been posted on these sites yet, and TMZ got the news first but I don't know.

Wreckless, I did not yell at you and if it came across that way then I apologize. News items from TMZ are posted here all the time. I make no determinations as to the authenticity of what TMZ posts on their website and neither should you. If it's verified that there's no truth to it then fine but neither you or I are able to confirm anything.

Maybe you weren't actually yelling when you made the post, but it came off cocky, when I was just trying to figure out if the article was true and when this allegedly happened, and you got angry saying "oh next time I'll get permission from you" when everybody else was asking when it was posted as well, not just me. I understand you were just posting news. I am just trying to find truth to it. I wasn't mad at you posting it, you were just posting it. I still don't understand why I was singled out but it's cool. I'll leave it at that because I'm trying to figure out if it's true, and it's good that you at least posted the news so we can all figure out when this happened.

Cards' star hit with protection order

Arizona Cardinals star wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald was filed Oct. 31 by his longtime girlfriend and mother of their child, according to the woman’s attorney and court records.

Fitzgerald, 25, of Phoenix, is not facing any criminal charges for an alleged domestic incident that took place Oct. 28. But a Coconino County Superior Court judge issued an order of protection in favor of his longtime girlfriend, Angela Nazario, 38, of Flagstaff.

In court documents, Nazario alleges that Fitzgerald grabbed the back of her neck and pushed her to the floor after an argument escalated during an overnight visit with their 11-month-old son.

Nazario said she swung at Fitzgerald and may have hit him in the face, according to the court documents.

Coconino County Superior Court Judge Elaine Friedlund Horn granted Nazario the order of protection.

Nazario, who has a five-year relationship with Fitzgerald, had filed a paternity action lawsuit against him in 2007 before their son was born on Jan. 8, 2008, and is seeking child support from him, said Nazario’s attorney, Lou Diesel.

Diesel said that further paternity proceedings involving Fitzgerald and Nazario should take place in March.

Although Fitzgerald is permitted to have custody of the child one day a week, the order of protection restricts him from being around her and limits communication with her to e-mails.

Fitzgerald and the Cardinals face the Atlanta Falcons in a wild-card playoff game Saturday at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale.

Well, hey!!

Look at the bright side. At least both of those teams have a player who is in trouble with the law and is on the police blotter.
