View Full Version : Sonny- I know Dallas underachieved, but you're better off than others
Big C 12-30-2008, 06:38 AM Sonny, while reading your messages of disappointment in the Cowboys, I understand your pain, but then I realized- for all your complaining, I still think you're better off than me.
IMO, the Cowboys are better-suited for success in the future than my Bills. It's not even close.
Let's consider the positions:
Quarterback- You have railed on Romo for his turnovers and big-game big-play failures, but you are much better off then who I have to live with at signal-caller: Trent Edwards and J.P. Losman, whom I call "Dumb and Dumber."
Running Back- This is a wash- Lynch and Barber are both good runners and play similar style.
Wide reciever- You have Terrell Owens, who has the second most-touchdowns ever. I have Lee Evans, who has 32 career TD's. How can that be considered fair?
Tight end- Jason Witten may be the NFL's best at his position. Would you rather have Robert Royal?
Defense- DeMarcus Ware had 20 sacks. I think the Bills had 20 sacks COMBINED as a team!
Playoffs- I know Dallas hasn't won a playoff game in 12 years, but at least they MAKE the postseason. Buffalo hasn't made the playoffs in NINE YEARS!
And spare me the heartbreak of Romo's two playoff losses and this year's finale in Philly- I lived through Wide Right, four Super Bowl losses, a humiliating wild-card loss to second-year big losses are NOTHING compared to what I have lived through.
Sonny, for all your complaining about having no heart and choking in games, think about this- would you rather be a Bills fan knowing our team won't contend for another five years? Would you rather root for a team with sucky quarterbacks and an incredibly overrated wide reciever who couldn't catch a cold?
Besides, if you don't like Romo, who the hell would you rather have- Jon Kitna? Derek Anderson?
As far as I'm concerned, you're better off with what you have. Enjoy it!
Dallas has talent- Buffalo has NONE!
I'd kill to have some of the players you have.
mriggles 12-30-2008, 11:56 AM the most talented teams don't always win... Dallas, yankees etc etc. True teams are the ones who succeed. Look at miami for example... Are they an 11 win team talent wise?? No but they sure as hell play like a team for 60 minutes every week
icecream 12-30-2008, 12:14 PM And yet for all their differences Dallas and Buffalo only finished two games apart.

Big C 12-30-2008, 06:23 PM "Talent doesn't win, when talent doesn't have heart".
I looked at that Seahawk team that made the Super Bowl that way.
That team was not heavy on starpower, big-names, or drew ratings- all they did was:
1. Win 13 games, including 11 in a row
2. Score the most points
3. Make the Super Bowl
LB is right- her Hawks were not a team that oozed all-pro talent, but still came together when it mattered most.

Mr. Television 12-30-2008, 10:03 PM Post of the day.
I understamd that the Cowboys are not as bad as other teams are...as far as history goes. Us Cowboy fans have been very fortunate. That doesn't mean I haven't a right to criticize my team when I see things being done that I'm against. The fact is, their is a bad atmosphere hanging over the Dallas Cowboys right now. Maybe everyone was right when they said that T.O. was a cancer because it appears that the players are only looking out for themselves and not the team. As some others have said...their is no me in team. This team has no heart. This is the only Cowboy team I have ever criticized like this. When we went 1-15 and then in 1990 we were 7-9, I was excited for this team. I could see the players starting to grow and when they finally won the SB , it was special. I don't think I was ever more happy in a sporting event. That team had leaders....this team doesn't. Even in the 80's when Danny White was the qb...many Cowboy fans were on him....I wasn't. I say this because you would think that losing the last 2 playoff games to division rivals would have an effect on the players but I doubt it. Yes the Cowboys have more talented players than Buffalo...but they are individuals ...they are not a team. I'd trade a bunch of them right now and I'd start with T.O. I have no faith that the Cowboys will do any better than this next year...it wouldn't surprise me if they even did worse.
I noticed that this was the pm you sent to me. I guess you wanted me to respond to it. The problem is I can't take you seriously. You say that you are a Bills fan but you root for the Cardinals and then you say you'll root for the Vikings. I noticed the article that you posted here a few months ago, you had also posted on the Zone. I read some of your posts over there and you claim to be a Cowboys fan since the late Landry days over there.

FSU was on the Zone???-lol Shock of the month.
As Long as Romo is the QB of the Cowboys we will never succeed. A Certified Loser
Big C 12-30-2008, 10:23 PM I resent when you say I have no right to criticize mine.
I didn't mean you have no right to criticize them.
What I meant to say is that, yes, the talent is there and the team isn't winning, but at least the Cowboys have players capable of contending for the next few years.
Buffalo, OTOH, may be a team, but what has that gotten them? NOTHING!! No playoff appearances in a decade. They may be a team, all right, but they are a team of underaceiving losers.
Turned a 4-0 start into another sub .500 year, with Dick Jauron, who I consider an absolute IDIOT of a coach. (Just take a look at what happened at the end of the Jets game).
IMO, Dick Jauron makes Wade Phillips look like Belichick.
Jauron should be gone, but he'll be back another year.
then you say you'll root for the Vikings.
I didn't say I was rooting for the Vikings. I was telling iggles and Wreckless to not underestimate Minnesota or get too overconfident.

Would you rather have J.P. Losman or Trent Edwards, AKA "Dumb and Dumber?"
How about Jon Kitna or Derek Anderson?
What about Tyler Thigpen, who displayed so much heart and effort in winning only two games all year?

You know what....and maybe it's because I'm older now but I'd rather lose with players that are trying to win then to lose ( and yes we are still losing) with players who are only concerned with themselves. It's not the whole team...but their is a certain part of the team that is selfish. Jimmy Johson has been saying it on tv for a month. Other people I respect say the same thing. Should I turn a blind eye and say nothing because I am a fan? Tony Romo is a good guy. He really is...and he's a better QB than the ones you mentioned. It doesn't mean he's great or he's going to take a team to the SB. If I had seen anything in the last 3 playoff games to convince me that he could...I wouldn't say anything. He looked completely lost out there at the Linc Sunday. He's regressing.

He averages 1 INT a game, not franchise QB numbers

I've been doing that for a decade with the Bills, and I'm fed up.
If Buffalo could win just one Super Bowl with players concerned with themselves in my lifetime, I'd take it.
Mr. Television 12-30-2008, 10:42 PM He averages 1 INT a game, not franchise QB numbers
and the problem is...he doesn't think it's a problem. If he tried to correct it and keep his turnovers down then that would be one thing. But when he says that he isn't worried about it since he's trying to make plays, that gets me so angry. And whenever we are in the 2 minute drill, I'm sitting there waiting for the int. He didn't disappoint on Sunday. He threw one right when I was waiting for it.

Which killed all the momentum and led to the Eagles going up 24-3, followed by 27-3 followed by me turning off the f*cking game-lol

well 24 pts off turnovers is not a every week thing, something for you to think about from this point on.
Only Dallas is capable of 3 fumbles and 1 Int in a do or die game

No really? Thanks for that piece of advice
take away the 24 pts & we still win by 2 TDS
The cowboys are the yankees of football (well this decade for the yankees anyway)...so much talent that can't get it done with it all on the line
TVFactFan 12-30-2008, 11:04 PM No really? Thanks for that piece of advice

You are missing my point, a 17 point lead in the NFL is reduced to 10 with a TD. so with the minus 24, the score is 20-3 and could be 20-10 with a TD.
I turned the game off, weas mcnabb taken out after the eagles went up 41-3?

They're very soft. I remember all the players bitching about Parcells after he left. They didn't want a coach to tell them what to do. Okay I gave them a chance to prove they didn't need it. Well they failed. That just makes me angrier.

I want to get into the heads and thoughts of Cowboys fans. I want to see what they think and say about certain things.
You could say I'm a spy, a secret agent, if you will, camouflaging among others.
Mr. Television 12-30-2008, 11:28 PM How was you able to find out it was him?lol
He posted an article on the Cowboys on SO and then posted the same article over on the Zone. Then when you read his posts over there, you can tell it's him. He even mentioned over there how the Giants sold their soul to Satan...the same thing he said here. lol
