The show would have been better, but I believe this wasn't possible because Rob Reiner and Sally Struthers desire to move on from the show at that time. At least, this is why I think the move to California happened. Season 7 is there last I bleieve, and it is one of my favorites. Great writing and storylines! Wish it came out on DVD already!

It`s a shame the way this once great show was allowed to linger and die a slow cruel death. Archie`s place, bringing in the kid, etc. Nobody wants to see those shows anymore for a good reason.

August--All In The Family was strong enough to kick Mork and Mindy off sunday night.

Dakert..It might have been a case of Mork and Mindy going downhill also. A race to the bottom so to speak.

All in the Family was indeed incredible ---- until Stephanie; that's your "jump the shark" moment. Although, they were some great episodes with her, like when her father comes back for her and Archie and Edith meet him at the flee-bag motel.

Yes, I totally agree that it's much nicer when a show goes out on the top, like the Mary Tyler Moore show did. AITF did linger and lost some of its magic, but it was never bad, just not drop dead great like it was in the beginning. But the show will always have a special place in my heart. I've always felt it was 25 years ahead of its time.

A great example of a show that needs to die already is Saturday Night Live. Outside of the great Sarah Palin eps from Nov. the show is sooooo tired & lost its greatness a LONG time ago.
