Denver hasn't done anything since John Elway retired. This year they had a three game lead with three games left in a weak division and still couldn't get past the 4-8 Chargers. :p

View Full Version : Mike Shanahan should be fired icecream 12-29-2008, 10:15 PM Denver hasn't done anything since John Elway retired. This year they had a three game lead with three games left in a weak division and still couldn't get past the 4-8 Chargers. :p Mr. Television 12-29-2008, 10:28 PM I always thought Shanahan was an overrated coach. He only won those 2 SB's because of Elway. Waterston_Fan 12-29-2008, 11:05 PM I always thought Shanahan was an overrated coach. He only won those 2 SB's because of Elway. Yeah that's true. I heard that Bowden, or Bowen really likes Shanahan but I think if he doesn't get the Broncons in the playoffs next year, then he should be fired. At least the GM gets along with the coach unlike when we had Schottenheimer. Seinatra 12-30-2008, 07:17 PM I think the running game had something to do with the super bowls as well. That defense has been horrid for some time now and they really need to do something about that. I dont think firing Shanahan is the way to do it, but they need to do something that works. I think they overachieved early and 8-8 is what they are. Waterston_Fan 12-30-2008, 07:19 PM I think the running game had something to do with the super bowls as well. I think they overachieved early and 8-8 is what they are. Well, guess what? He's been fired!! Wreckless 12-30-2008, 08:23 PM I disagree with you saying he hasn't done anything since John left. He's had good seasons, winning records, division titles & playoff appearences. Just because somebody doesn't win a ring every year, doesn't make it a failure. That means 31 teams a year are failures. So 10 years since he retired, plenty of teams each year have failed, missed out on the playoffs & haven't won the championship. I think he is one of the best coaches. The move he made vs. SD the Hocchuli bowl, was fantastic and nobody else would have balls to make that move and call that play. I know if that play didn't work out and they lost, he would of been on the chopping block then. But it looks like a great call since it was executed properly and efficiently. Anyways, I guess he should of been fired, even though he has been good for Denver. Nothing lasts forever. Zoneboy 12-30-2008, 08:23 PM Well, guess what? He's been fired!! http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081230/ap_on_sp_fo_ne/fbn_shanahan_fired Zoneboy 12-30-2008, 08:40 PM It appears that Bill's Coach, Dick Jauron is safe. http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_ylt=Aoerp5Nj0MiG_otqmiVYCiRDubYF?slug=ap-bills-jauron&prov=ap&type=lgns Wreckless 12-30-2008, 08:48 PM I think only one more head coach will be fired this off-season; Herm Edwards of the Chiefs. If their are somehow 2 more off-season head coach firings, I think that will be it. Big C 12-30-2008, 09:27 PM It appears that Bill's Coach, Dick Jauron is safe. http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_ylt=Aoerp5Nj0MiG_otqmiVYCiRDubYF?slug=ap-bills-jauron&prov=ap&type=lgns ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! Jon Gruden should be NEXT. 9-3 and then 9-7 Mr. Television 12-30-2008, 10:44 PM When you have a 3 game lead in the Division with 3 games to go in the season and you lose all of them, you have to be fired as a coach. Jon Gruden should be NEXT. 9-3 and then 9-7 Gruden's overrated too. Won a SB with Tony Dungy's team and has done nothing since. TVFactFan 12-30-2008, 10:46 PM Gruden's overrated too. And was too stupid to see Jeff Garcia was not a starting QB. mriggles 12-30-2008, 10:52 PM And was too stupid to see Jeff Garcia was not a starting QB. I applaud him for that  EricIdlefan 12-30-2008, 11:40 PM Surprised that Gruden isn't canned. Well, not just yet. But Shanahan, it kind of shocks me! Waterston_Fan 12-31-2008, 12:06 AM Okay, I'm gonna ask... Is Chris Simms a good QB or is it one of those things where he's never given a chance? Seinatra 12-31-2008, 10:27 AM This was funny, I post how he should not or would not be fired and then he is fired a couple of hours later. That came out of the blue, didn't it? They lost to 2 good teams and the one they should have won was the Bills at home, but given how they were playing recently they would have not done anything in the playoffs anyway. Oh well, a fresh start. Maybe they can lure Wade Phillips back.... Big C 12-31-2008, 10:59 AM given how they were playing recently they would have not done anything in the playoffs anyway. Not so. Had Denver hosted the Colts, I would have called for the upset. 1. Denver has a phenomenal record at home in the playoffs 2. Manning would have been playing in cold weather, and he stinks in cold weather 3. Indy has a porous defense and can't run the ball at all Zoneboy 12-31-2008, 11:20 AM Not so. Manning would have been playing in cold weather, and he stinks in cold weather 3. Indy has a porous defense and can't run the ball at all With all those factors a win by Denver at home wouldn't be my idea of an upset. The upset would've been the Colts defeating Denver plus after that bold prediction of Arizona winning at Foxboro, I probably wouldn't do anymore football forecasting if I were you. TVFactFan 12-31-2008, 11:52 AM Shannhan really has had a good decade anyway so it looks like it was time to go 2000-lost in wildcard game to baltimore 2001-no playoffs 2002-no playoffs 2003-lost in wildcard game to indianapolis 2004-lost in wildcard game to indianapolis 2005-lost in afc championship to steelers 2006-no playoffs 2007-no playoffs 2008-3 game lead with 3 games left and no playoffs So yes it was time for him to go after a decade like that |
