View Full Version : Anyone Else Not Like Margaret? LuLu Rogers 12-28-2008, 09:08 PM I'm sorry, but I CAN'T STAND Hot Lips, she gets on my LAST NERVE  Anyone else feel this way? catlover79 12-28-2008, 09:13 PM She never really bothered me that much, but to each his (or her!) own. ;) dakert 12-28-2008, 09:19 PM I liked Margaret--she is what I would consider a sort of complex character Scoobiedoo30 12-29-2008, 12:30 AM Margaret is a very funny Acctress on M*A*S*H 70s show watcher 12-29-2008, 02:14 AM i dont really dislike her but the screaming at the top of her lungs every other ep gets tiresome very fast Chocoholic 12-30-2008, 11:15 AM Margaret was a witch at times, but I think deep down she had a good heart and really did come to respect her comrades. She did soften up over the years. I remember in one episode when she needed surgery and she asked Potter to please make sure it was Hawkeye who operated on her instead of Frank. I don't see the Margaret if the first 3 years saying that. Miss Lisa 01-03-2009, 11:22 AM The only times that I really did like Margaret were when she was drunk or when she was with Hawkeye. I don't know why, I'm just an H/M fan. There were times when her and Frank got old, but she didn't bother me that much. Mikado 01-04-2009, 02:18 AM H/M??? Anyway, the only M*A*S*H character i disliked was Charles Dr. Thong 01-04-2009, 03:34 PM H/M??? Anyway, the only M*A*S*H character i disliked was Charles You're killin' me! Charles was pompous, arrogant and stuffy-- and very funny. Chocoholic 01-04-2009, 04:48 PM I love Charles! He's my favorite character from the later seasons. LuLu Rogers 01-04-2009, 09:08 PM H/M??? Anyway, the only M*A*S*H character i disliked was Charles H/M= Hawkeye/Margaret, which= puke: LOL I think Hawkeye was way too good for Margaret. catlover79 01-04-2009, 09:47 PM Lu, I'm guessing you covered your eyes when they kissed in the last episode. LuLu Rogers 01-04-2009, 09:51 PM Lu, I'm guessing you covered your eyes when they kissed in the last episode. Nah, I just watched him and not her. ;) catlover79 01-04-2009, 09:55 PM Nah, I just watched him and not her. ;) No comment. ;) TJL 01-04-2009, 09:56 PM Of all the characters that lasted the entire 11 season run of M*A*S*H, I think Margaret went throught the biggest transformation. She started out as the bitchy enemy of the "good guys" of the show, always ready (with Frank at her side) to snitch on Henry to some General or catch Hawkeye and Trapper in the middle of one of their schemes. But she loosened up considerably over time, especially when she dumped Frank and came to realize the ones she fought against weren't so bad after all. From pilot episode to finale, Margaret was as different as night and day. cleverfun3000 01-04-2009, 09:57 PM http://usera.ImageCave.com/ur_next_ex/01234.jpg That Was A Helluva Kiss She Planted On Hawkeye......Almost "R" Rated!! catlover79 01-04-2009, 09:59 PM ^ I'm surprised they let it get to air!! That was SMOKIN'!!  I guess she wasn't for nothing that she got the nickname "Hot Lips"!! :brent LuLu Rogers 01-04-2009, 11:11 PM She owed him more than a kiss for all he had to put up with from her over the years, LOL Ok, so I'm alone in my feelings, I just don't care for Margaret. Even though she loosened up a lot over the years, she was still terrible to her nurses and a bit of a brat when it came to certain things. I guess my main gripe is when people say she and Hawkeye should've gotten together, Sorry Folks, No Way treky 01-06-2009, 04:23 AM no, you're not alone in your feelings, Lauren, I also don't like her. Well, let me take that back somewhat. I liked her in those first 3 seasons (why they decided to give Alan Alda free rien with the scripts and direction-at least sometimes-and change the show from the way it was back then; I'll never understand) treky 01-06-2009, 04:26 AM I haven't seen the finale in years, mostly because only about 2% of it was good. What was Hawkeye and Margrets kiss like? steevo 01-25-2009, 05:18 PM ^ It lasted about two minutes, and they really went at it, makes you almost need to take a shower afterward. catlover79 01-26-2009, 02:11 PM ^ That's putting it mildly. Dr. Thong 01-26-2009, 06:07 PM ^ It lasted about two minutes, and they really went at it, makes you almost need to take a shower afterward. Someone should have went up to Potter and BJ and said "Don't watch -- you'll only irritate your glands." Dog Tags 03-05-2009, 02:18 PM For my money, there were 2 distinctly different Margaret ( Hot Lips ) characters. There was the spunky, by the book, foot fetish Margaret we got to know in the first 3 seasons, however after season 5, her character along with others took on a different look. Be it for good or bad, she changed ... grew up one might suggest. catlover79 03-05-2009, 02:20 PM Someone should have went up to Potter and BJ and said "Don't watch -- you'll only irritate your glands." :eek2:  Dog Tags 03-05-2009, 03:53 PM Perhaps this will help ? Of course, they're just acting. ;) 146025 146026 BeatleMoe 04-01-2009, 07:34 PM There was a big change in her character over the years. I liked the relationship between her and Hawkeye, and in his first season the sexual tension between her and Charles. Really, I think the character started to take shape after the sixth season. She loosened up, even started calling Radar by Radar in the seventh season. And she became one of the "guys" so to speak. I liked the character as a whole. Her early years with Frank, during her short marriage, and after she became independant. I loved the kiss between her and Hawkeye in the final episode. Dog Tags 04-29-2009, 04:07 PM and.... let us not forget the grandfather who has the 'hots' for her ! :D catlover79 04-29-2009, 07:31 PM How many Emmys did Loretta Swit win for the role, anyway? LuLu Rogers 04-29-2009, 09:13 PM How many Emmys did Loretta Swit win for the role, anyway? She was nominated for an Emmy all 11 Seasons except the first one, but never won. Miss Lisa 04-29-2009, 09:52 PM ^ I'm surprised they let it get to air!! He suggested that we try to beat their kiss. Nice! ;) catlover79 04-29-2009, 10:23 PM She was nominated for an Emmy all 11 Seasons except the first one, but never won. I thought she won. Maybe it was a Golden Globe she won. catlover79 04-29-2009, 10:24 PM Haha, one time my boyfriend was over and there was nothing to do but watch TV and we watched GFA. He suggested that we try to beat their kiss. Did you? ;) catlover79 04-29-2009, 10:58 PM She was nominated for an Emmy all 11 Seasons except the first one, but never won. I looked it up in my primetime TV book, and Lu, I hate to correct you - Loretta Swit won twice (1980 and 1982) for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. She was nominated for 4 Golden Globes as well, but didn't get any. Dog Tags 04-29-2009, 11:11 PM Not too bad for a hot old lady with 15 year old boys chasing after her eh ? ;) Miss Lisa 04-29-2009, 11:14 PM Did you? ;) We beat them by about three seconds. LuLu Rogers 04-29-2009, 11:18 PM I looked it up in my primetime TV book, and Lu, I hate to correct you - Loretta Swit won twice (1980 and 1982) for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. No worries, I got my info from imdb.com, so I wasn't totally sure that I was right in the first place  Good to know :) catlover79 04-29-2009, 11:18 PM We beat them by about three seconds. I then told him that he was caught up for a couple years. I'm glad that GFA was on when it was. catlover79 04-30-2009, 12:18 AM He told me it was my late birthday gift. I then told him that he was caught up for a couple years. I'm glad that GFA was on when it was. OK, who timed it?? Miss Lisa 04-30-2009, 06:22 AM A couple of our friends did. It was kinda awkward at first, but you soon forget that they're there. catlover79 04-30-2009, 11:53 AM A couple of our friends did. It was kinda awkward at first, but you soon forget that they're there. Now THAT'S a PDA. Miss Lisa 06-09-2009, 06:55 PM Haha! I think I killed this thread with my story. catlover79 06-09-2009, 07:21 PM Haha! I think I killed this thread with my story. I think you did. Bronson 08-30-2009, 05:24 PM Once they got rid of Frank Burns and matured Margaret, she was more likeble. She was awful earlier. Loved Charles. Yes he was pompus and a snob but he was a good person unlike Frank whose contempt for the Korean people was visible. catlover79 08-30-2009, 05:32 PM Once they got rid of Frank Burns and matured Margaret, she was more likeble. She was awful earlier. Loved Charles. Yes he was pompus and a snob but he was a good person unlike Frank whose contempt for the Korean people was visible. I think you just hit the nail on the head. Larry Linville, from what I understand, was the complete opposite of Frank in real life (thank goodness!) but some people couldn't tell the difference. I think he still got quite a bit of hate mail for the rest of his life!! LuLu Rogers 08-30-2009, 06:10 PM I think you just hit the nail on the head. Larry Linville, from what I understand, was the complete opposite of Frank in real life (thank goodness!) but some people couldn't tell the difference. Frank was my favorite character and Larry Linville was a great actor bringing that character to life. Some people are just nuts. :ohno: catlover79 08-30-2009, 09:06 PM I never understood that. Frank was my favorite character and Larry Linville was a great actor bringing that character to life. Some people are just nuts. :ohno: Exactly. Frank Burns is the ultimate character people love to hate. Too bad some people took it out on Larry himself. :( Ignatowski 07-28-2011, 08:12 AM I'm sorry, but I CAN'T STAND Hot Lips, she gets on my LAST NERVE  Anyone else feel this way? Of course there are some episodes I like her in but for the most part I did not like her. The episode where she gets back from her honeymoon, that opening section when she comes back to camp, my god she is such a b***h to the driver and then to Radar you just want to slap her. We know she had a bad time but still no reason to be a total friggin B to others. |
