She never really bothered me that much, but to each his (or her!) own. ;)

I liked Margaret--she is what I would consider a sort of complex character

Margaret is a very funny Acctress on M*A*S*H

i dont really dislike her but the screaming at the top of her lungs every other ep gets tiresome very fast

Margaret was a witch at times, but I think deep down she had a good heart and really did come to respect her comrades. She did soften up over the years. I remember in one episode when she needed surgery and she asked Potter to please make sure it was Hawkeye who operated on her instead of Frank. I don't see the Margaret if the first 3 years saying that.

The only times that I really did like Margaret were when she was drunk or when she was with Hawkeye. I don't know why, I'm just an H/M fan. There were times when her and Frank got old, but she didn't bother me that much.

Of all the characters that lasted the entire 11 season run of M*A*S*H, I think Margaret went throught the biggest transformation.
She started out as the bitchy enemy of the "good guys" of the show, always ready (with Frank at her side) to snitch on Henry to some General or catch Hawkeye and Trapper in the middle of one of their schemes.
But she loosened up considerably over time, especially when she dumped Frank and came to realize the ones she fought against weren't so bad after all.

From pilot episode to finale, Margaret was as different as night and day.

Ok, so I'm alone in my feelings, I just don't care for Margaret. Even though she loosened up a lot over the years, she was still terrible to her nurses and a bit of a brat when it came to certain things. I guess my main gripe is when people say she and Hawkeye should've gotten together, Sorry Folks, No Way

Well, let me take that back somewhat. I liked her in those first 3 seasons (why they decided to give Alan Alda free rien with the scripts and direction-at least sometimes-and change the show from the way it was back then; I'll never understand)

I haven't seen the finale in years, mostly because only about 2% of it was good.

For my money, there were 2 distinctly different Margaret ( Hot Lips ) characters. There was the spunky, by the book, foot fetish Margaret we got to know in the first 3 seasons, however after season 5, her character along with others took on a different look. Be it for good or bad, she changed ... grew up one might suggest.

There was a big change in her character over the years. I liked the relationship between her and Hawkeye, and in his first season the sexual tension between her and Charles. Really, I think the character started to take shape after the sixth season. She loosened up, even started calling Radar by Radar in the seventh season. And she became one of the "guys" so to speak. I liked the character as a whole. Her early years with Frank, during her short marriage, and after she became independant. I loved the kiss between her and Hawkeye in the final episode.

and.... let us not forget the grandfather who has the 'hots' for her ! :D

Once they got rid of Frank Burns and matured Margaret, she was more likeble. She was awful earlier.

Loved Charles. Yes he was pompus and a snob but he was a good person unlike Frank whose contempt for the Korean people was visible.

I think you just hit the nail on the head. :nod: Larry Linville, from what I understand, was the complete opposite of Frank in real life (thank goodness!) but some people couldn't tell the difference. I think he still got quite a bit of hate mail for the rest of his life!! :mad:

Of course there are some episodes I like her in but for the most part I did not like her. The episode where she gets back from her honeymoon, that opening section when she comes back to camp, my god she is such a b***h to the driver and then to Radar you just want to slap her. We know she had a bad time but still no reason to be a total friggin B to others.:mad:
