Theda Bara 01-24-2009, 06:57 PM 6 1/2 years here now. Goddamn.
Scary, I know. It will be six years for me on April 19th...
Mr. Television 01-31-2009, 12:58 AM Damn I've been here counting as a lurker for 9 years in March.
Mr. Television 01-31-2009, 01:00 AM At least we all made it to page 2. At this pace we'll be done with the thread in 10 years.
PZelda 02-07-2009, 08:56 AM Uh-oh. I still need to pick up the 10th and 11th seasons of Cheers. I am a bad, bad, bad fan. *hangs head in shame*
Mr. Television 02-14-2009, 04:01 PM Uh-oh. I still need to pick up the 10th and 11th seasons of Cheers. I am a bad, bad, bad fan. *hangs head in shame*
You're slowing down a bit Allison. Did you ever get all of Gilmore Girls and Hunter?
PZelda 02-15-2009, 02:08 AM You're slowing down a bit Allison. Did you ever get all of Gilmore Girls and Hunter?
Yup, finally got that final GG DVD a loooooong time ago. Let's see, when was that... Mmm, I have no idea. I got a portable DVD player right after I got the final season, so when was that? June '08, maybe?
And they haven't released any more Hunter DVDs besides the three seasons already released. :( And as I recall, the third season came out in January of 2006. Bummer...
I did get caught up on Family Guy, tho. I have all six volumes that have been released so far now. :D I was meaning to do that forever. Sold off my entire Three's Company collection last month - I hope whoever bought my DVDs is enjoying them now (I sold them to an used electronics store).
I've been a poor bum, though. I pretty much can't spend money on anything, except for food. Hopefully this job hunt I'm on now will yield a little more spending money to allow me to get caught up with Cheers. It's about mother****ing time they finally finished releasing all the seasons of that show. Now I can have an official Cheers marathon! :D
PZelda 02-15-2009, 02:11 AM You know, it's been 25 years now since Night Court premiered.
PZelda 02-22-2009, 12:33 AM Man, do I have to be the one to revive the thread every week?
Mr. Television 03-17-2009, 12:45 AM Man, do I have to be the one to revive the thread every week?
I think I'll revive it now. No posts in this thread for the whole month of March. I think that's a record
Mr. Television 03-17-2009, 12:46 AM You know, it's been 25 years now since Night Court premiered.
I don't want to think about that. It makes me feel old.
PZelda 03-18-2009, 01:31 AM ^^ that means all the other shows that debuted in the fall of 1984 are going to be 25 soon! Who's the Boss?, The Cosby Show, Hunter... :D
You know, I just realized my avatar is probably considered rather risque. I like that I've had it going on 2 1/2 years now, and it's never been reported (to my knowledge). I might change it in the fall for their 25th.

Punky Brewster, Kate & Allie, Charles in Charge, CRAP! Miami Vice... all these other shows I watched in their original runs or shortly after they ended. Eek.

You could take the worst shows from that list and I'd rather watch those than ANY reality show on the air today.
TV just keeps getting worse, Sonny. They canceled Life on Mars, one of my favorite shows and next year Monk ends. :( Heroes will probably be gone soon too and I've already lost interest in the Sarah Connor Chronicles. Not much left except for the Big Bang Theory. Thank God that show got picked up for another 2 years!

I totally agree with you. Did you see that thread about the President of NBC? It's just sad what has happened to that network. I still like 24 and Lost. Chuck is really good but that'll probably get canceled. :( I do agree about BBT. I just started watching that show last month regularly and I really enjoy it. Now if only some more good multi-camera sitcoms would come on.
BTW How did you enjoy the last season of Dallas? The 1987-88 season comes out next month. That will mean that there are only 3 more seasons to go. :D

LMAO, that actually happened?! Too funny.
Wondering... Was that her real name? If not, I bet she is a Hunter fan as well. Haha.

treky 03-25-2009, 12:14 AM awww...well, just remember we all love you on here; Lauren sweetie!
Skywalker 03-26-2009, 12:54 AM I totally agree with you. Did you see that thread about the President of NBC? It's just sad what has happened to that network. I still like 24 and Lost. Chuck is really good but that'll probably get canceled. :( I do agree about BBT. I just started watching that show last month regularly and I really enjoy it. Yeah. Can't say it surprises me though. NBC really is a 4th place network now and has been ever since Friends went off the air. Their biggest problem has been sitcoms and reality shows. Now I hate reality shows, but from what I understand, theirs are the worst and the sitcoms they have, although some are critically acclaimed, do not get great ratings. Must see Thursday is dead. What they need are a few good multicamera sitcoms filmed in front of a studio audience and maybe they'd get on the right track and go back to the glory days when shows like Cosby Show, Cheers and Seinfeld were the shows to watch. But that is much easier said than done, I'm afraid.
That's too bad. :( I heard Chuck is a pretty good show. I probably would have watched it if it was on at a different time. I'm glad you're enjoying BBT. It's easily the best sitcom on right now, IMO. :) I swear I haven't laughed so hard at another show since Everybody Loves Raymond.
I thought it was pretty good. Better than Season 9. It took me about a week to finish it. I'm just glad I stayed away from spoilers for so long. I knew about a couple of things like Pam getting into that accident and Bobby dying in Season 8, but for the most part I have no idea what's going to happen next. Season 11 should be interesting. I couldn't believe JR lost Ewing Oil. Jeremy Wendell is one mean SOB.
LuLu Rogers 03-26-2009, 01:03 AM Hi guys! :)
Skywalker 03-26-2009, 01:04 AM Hey Justin....check this out. It looks like Sharona is going to guest star on Monk.
http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/showthread.php?t=243334
:woohoo: I'm glad it's finally been confirmed. It always bothered me that there was never any closure with the Sharona character. I even stopped watching the show every week for a while after she left, which was funny because I was a big Traylor Howard fan back in the day. I even watched her in that short lived show Bram and Alice. After a while I got used to the Natalie character and started watching the show again every week.
spunkygirl 03-26-2009, 06:33 PM Hey Angela

Hey Sonny, long time no talk
PZelda 03-27-2009, 05:16 PM Lauren, now what?
Sorry, guys - it's been a ridiculous week here. Had a flooding scare and had to evacuate. They ended up having to close off the streets leading to my place because they filled up with water. I'm fine, my place is fine. Part of my city did get flooded, and we're not out of the woods just yet. They're predicting more snow and colder temperatures and then warmer temperatures for the next week. So who knows.
Obama declared my whole state a federal emergency - a lot of smaller towns out in the country got flooded worse than we did. And now Fargo (ND)/Moorhead (MN) as well as Grand Forks (ND)/East Grand Forks (MN) are both in severe danger of flooding right now. There was a major flood in both areas back in April of 1997, and it's supposed to be worse than '97. The Red River crested at 54 feet in GF/EGF and 39 feet in F/M back in '97. Right now it's at (I think) 56 feet in GF/EGF and almost 41 feet in F/M. It shattered the record set in 1897 (yes, 112 years ago) for F/M - it crested at 40.1 feet then. It was 40.7 feet when I last checked stats just a while ago.
I'm supposed to be going to Minneapolis over Easter - and we have to go through F/M to get to Minneapolis. Eek!

Allison, I am glad that you and your family are fine. Being evacuated is not only scary, but a pain in the ass as well ( I know, I have been there, when my family and myself were evacuated due to the fires in San Diego, a couple of autumns ago). Natural disasters like floods and fires suck!!!

I think she is replying on how her family is disappointed in her because; well, she does not live up to their ludicrous standards:rolleyes: Which is complete and utter crap, because not only she is a good person. She works, does not part take in drugs, is not promiscuous, does not smoke or drink. Hell, I can go on and on; oh, and did I mention, that she is responsible, too. Always picking up her young siblings and doing her chores...Is that not a good and decent child, I do not know what is!!!!

You are working two jobs right now, correct? If that is the case. I highly recommend that you set aside some of the money you receive; and start planning on moving it. I think it would be very good for you=) And, heck (who knows) I might take a drive to Alabama for a visit;)
Theda Bara 03-28-2009, 02:14 AM I decided not to go out tonight. I had a paper that was due on Monday; so I wanted to get that out of the way. Preparing and writing the thesis took a lot longer than expected. BUT, I am definitely going out on both Saturday and Sunday. Actually, I might be in LA on the 29th. I will look for Wayne for you;) Because I will driving through Beverly Hills...
treky 03-28-2009, 02:16 AM me too, Tara! (yea right-I don't even drive and unfortunately, probably never will:( :( )

I think it would be very good for you=) And, heck (who knows) I might take a drive to Alabama for a visit;)
No, I quit my other job, but after I go through training, I'll be working 40 hours a week at my new job, so I'll be making some money. You BETTER come visit me! ;)
LuLu Rogers 03-28-2009, 02:37 AM I decided not to go out tonight.
If you find him, give him my number and tell him I will be his slave! ;)
treky 03-28-2009, 02:40 AM Hey, I know people who are older than you; and they never learned how to drive a car; it more common than you think!
thanx Tara, now I feel a lot better!!:) :)
Theda Bara 03-28-2009, 02:46 AM thanx Tara, now I feel a lot better!!:) :)
You are very welcome. Do you put yourself down because you do not drive. Remember a lot of people don't. :)
PZelda 03-28-2009, 05:25 AM Yup, I was asking about the family disappointment comment from a few pages back. Shoulda clarified that.
It's very clear to me that the rest of your family is on crack. WTF does that to an upstanding citizen of the family? O.o

I just can't even deal with life right now. It's just my ****ing luck that I don't have any booze at home. I need to get ****faced and just pretend that I don't exist at all. >:|
PZelda 03-28-2009, 09:05 AM Are they really coming out with some movie named "17 Again"? Damn, that's lame. I sure as hell wouldn't want to be 17 again. That was the year I had influenza for two weeks... Widhed I was dead the whole time I was sick. That really sucked.
I was coming here to say, damn, is Vicki really 60 now? O.o heh.

God, I can barely remember when I was 17; it was such an uneventful age; nothing exciting happened! My life did not start to become a "Soap Opera" till I was about 24.
LuLu Rogers 03-28-2009, 08:11 PM If I don't get out of "Mayberry" I'm going to suffocate! Anyone need a temporary roommate until I get settled in a new place?
PZelda 03-28-2009, 09:02 PM The only bed I have here is a 40+ year old couch that nobody really sits on and really needs to be thrown out, but it's decent enough. Must love cats (have two). Come on over. :)

I'd love to, I have no where to go.
My dad just informed me that he "knows" about all of this "terrible" stuff that I've done

I can't do this anymore, I HAVE to move out, not just that I want to, I HAVE to in order to stay alive! :(
treky 03-28-2009, 09:58 PM Lauren honey; I feel sorry for you, I really do! :bighug: :bighug: I really, really wish there was something I could do to help you out, but you're in Alabama and I'm up here in Pennsylvania.
And you haven't done any "terrible" stuff! What a mean thing for your dad to say!!!
PZelda 03-28-2009, 10:39 PM Heh, my dad was on the liberal side when I was a kid. My parents split up in 1995 (just passed the 14-year anniversary, it was a few days ago). When they were separated but the divorce wasn't yet final, my dad met the woman who is now my stepmom (circa late 1994 sometime). They got married less than a year after the divorce, in 1996 (just had their 13-year anniversary). When my dad met/married my stepmom, he turned over to being a conversative.
My earlobes are stretched at a 2ga, I have two tattoos and I shaved my head. I think I jarred him pretty good with shaving my head, and he really does not like that I have big holes in my ears now. I'm not done yet, though, I'm planning to get them to 1/2" each.
This is from a few months ago, but I haven't gone any bigger. The pink thing I'm wearing in that ear is called a plug - the diameter of that plug is how big the holes in my ear are right now. I traditionally wear tunnels (which is self-explanatory - they're hollow and you can see through my ears).
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v56/PZelda/album2/IMG00211.jpg
This is pretty standard for how my ears look from day to day while I'm at this size.

Ohhh yeah I did. :) Probably the best Easter I've had in my life. I got myself a brand-new spanking laptop over Easter. Ha. Met my brother's girlfriend for the first time - I ADORE HER SO MUCH.
How was yours? :)

PZelda 04-25-2009, 07:18 PM Kinda inspired by Bea's recent passing...
I remember we had a discussion about this years ago. AITF had a LOT of spinoffs, I know that. Let me see if I have them all...
- Maude
- The Jeffersons
- Gloria
- 704 Hauser
- Archie Bunker's Place
Annnnd, Good Times was a spinoff of Maude, right? (much to Sol's disagreement over the years) That would make my head hurt whenever I thought of it. Spinoff of a spinoff.
Mr. Television 04-25-2009, 07:25 PM This makes me remember my famous Bea Arthur is so sexy random thread. Wow that was a fun thread. Very sad about Bea. I could always joke about her because I was a fan of hers. I loved Maude and GG. She just had a wit about her that made you laugh. All my childhood tv idols seem to be dying on me. :(

I've always loved GG. Always. Since I was a little kid. I don't remember not watching GG, being it debuted right after I was born and was still on when I was in grade school. I'm still not sick of the reruns, after 20+ years. :)

PZelda 04-26-2009, 08:31 PM I can't believe Bea is gone :crying:
Me too. :(
I dunno... I knew Estelle was going to die sooner or later, because I was aware of how sick she was. But to just be hit by that out of the blue with Bea's passing... Wow.
I sure hope Betty and Rue aren't hiding anything else. :( They both seem to be in great health. I still can't believe Betty is 87... she just keeps going and going. :) Also, she looks great. As does Rue. My grandma is two years older than Rue, and they both look fabulous.

PZelda 04-26-2009, 08:37 PM I'm not liking the number of autographs from dead people growing now... I got Brett Somers' autograph back in 2004. She died in 2007. I got Harvey Korman's autograph in '04 as well... he died almost a year ago. I have Bea's autograph as well.
No lie... I was looking thru my binder last night and thinking to myself, "Who is going to be next?" :/
PZelda 04-27-2009, 09:56 PM I don't know if I told you guys, but you guys probably saw it on the CC board that I got a full-time job not too long ago. Well, my first day at my new job was on Thursday. I had to put in my two weeks at the old one, and work these two jobs at the same time... well my last day at the old job was this morning, so now I'm back to just one job again.
I AM READY FOR MY WEEKEND.
PZelda 05-01-2009, 01:31 PM I just ordered the 10th and 11th seasons of Cheers off DeepDiscount.com. THIS TIME NEXT WEEK MY CHEERS COLLECTION WILL BE MOTHER****IN' COMPLETE. Finally. After 5 1/2 years (I bought the first season in October of 2003... I know it actually came out in time for the 10th anniversary of the series finale in May of 2003).
Then I can get the first season of Rhoda my next paycheck. :D
PZelda 05-01-2009, 01:34 PM This makes me want to have a Cheers marathon again.
PZelda 05-01-2009, 01:37 PM Jeez. 27 years in the fall since Cheers debuted. IS IT THAT GODDAMN OLD ALREADY.
AND OH MY GOD THE GOLDEN GIRLS (AND ME) COMING UP ON 25 YEARS NEXT YEAR. QUARTER OF A CENTURY. *flails and cries* IT IS NOT POSSIBLE THAT BOTH SHOWS ARE THAT OLD ALREADY.
Skywalker 05-01-2009, 08:24 PM Good luck with the new job, Allison!
Sonny, I've been watching the Dallas Season 11 DVD and I'm wondering what happened to Jeremy Wendell. I was looking forward to seeing him and JR go at it, but they replaced him with that other guy.
I think the writers and producers were mad at Victoria Principal for leaving. They should have just killed Pamela off instead of going through all that crap with her face getting burned and leaving her son and husband. I don't care how bad her face looked, there's no way Pam would ever abandon her family like that. I just didn't buy it. And I know that wasn't Victoria dressed as a mummy, but I'm wondering who they got to play Pam in those episodes?

I know. I was very disappointed that they got rid of Wendell. The good news is , he does eventually come back. I couldn't stand Cryder. He was a runt. They completely ruined the Pam character at this point. I think this is where they started to JTS. You're right. Pam would never leave Christopher like that. Remember how upset she was at Rebecca for leaving her? I think the producers thought Victoria would change her mind and come back but she didn't. They should have replaced her. I don't usually like when shows do that but in this case it was needed. Pam was just too important to Dallas to just leave her in limbo like that. Other than that, how are you enjoying the season? I still found it pretty enjoyable but there a few storylines I didn't care for. I couldn't stand the Ray and Jenna storyline. Look out for Brad Pitt though. He does make a few appearances.

It just doesn't seem like it. I've been watching Damages on FX and Ted Danson is a regular on there. His hair is completely white. I remember when he was a young womanizer on Cheers. It's scary. When you see people like Bea Arthur, who I grew up with die like that...it makes you realize how fast life really is. I remember sitting on the couch with my Mom watching the CBS Monday night lineup. It seems like a lifetime ago now. We always watched Maude together.

I'm glad to hear that. Cryder sucks. He may be my least favorite character from the show so far. I have to agree. I still feel the show is watchable, but this is the first Dallas Season set where I've taken my time watching it. In the past, I would finish a season set in a little over a week... I've had Season 11 for a week and I'm only on episode 9. Yeah, they should have done something. I know they do that sort of stuff all the time on soaps and Dallas was a prime time soap so it would have been understandable. I think the only characters who could never be replaced are JR, Bobby and Cliff. I don't like the Ray and Jenna storyline either. I'm glad they leave at the end of the season. Funny thing is, Ray used to be one of my favorites, but the past few seasons, he's been kinda boring. I blame the writers for that, they could have given him some better storylines. I like the JR storyline and the Bobby storyline with that woman is pretty interesting. I like that new guy, Dandy. Too bad he doesn't stick around for long. I don't really care much for the Sue Ellen storyline. I just know she's going to end up with Pearce.

It's funny. Over on the Dallas website, most of the women fans love Nicholas Pearce. They think he's sexy. I thought he was kind of boring. Yea I liked Dandy. He sort of reminded me of Digger. I think Cliff becomes alot more likeable this season too because of him. Yea they really didn't know what to do with Ray anymore. Once they decided to break him and Donna up, there was nothing more for him to do. The seasons do get worse as they go along. The next season still has some good storylines but the final two seasons was like a different show with all the new characters. Still as long as Larry Hagman was in it, the show was still watchable and 100% better than any of the reality shows that are on today.

Oh god, really? I know his hair has been completely white for a while now, but still. Seems like just yesterday Becker was still on the air. And then there was that short-lived show in 06... what was it again. "Help Me Help You"? I don't remember if he colored his hair for that show or not.
PZelda 05-04-2009, 11:44 AM HELL YEAH SO IT LOOKS LIKE SONY MIGHT FINISH PUTTING OUT CHARLIE'S ANGELS AFTER ALL.

At least they gave Ray a good storyline towards the end with that psycho, Connie. Overall, I think Season 11 was a little better than Season 9. Maybe it's just me, but I felt JR was an even bigger jerk in Season 11 than in previous seasons. I loved that cliffhanger too. I can't believe Sue Ellen shot JR. Also, it was great to see Lucy again. I missed her. I'm looking forward to Season 12. I know that's when George Kennedy joins the cast. I've always thought he was a great actor. :)

And Ernest Borgnine turned 92 in January. I could be wrong, but I think the oldest living celebrity is Karl Malden. He turned 97 in March.

They were talking about it the other day on one of those tabloid shows. So sad. :(

That cliiffhanger was a complete change from the Who Shot JR cliffhanger that they had in 1980. Sue Ellen's changed so much, she doesn't care if everyone knows she shot JR. I was so glad Lucy was back. They just didn't really know what to do with her as you'll see in the coming seasons. I've always been a George Kennedy fan and he had his moments on Dallas. Sometimes he was a nice guy and sometimes he was a villian. Wait until you see his children though. They were something else.

I remember watching it daily on WGN in the early 80's when I actually got that channel. Critics hated that show like they did most of Aaron Spelling's shows. He knew what the public liked though. :D
Mr. Television 05-08-2009, 10:34 PM Ugh, that sucks so much about Farrah. :(

DS9 is actually my all time favorite show. I know most people here for some reason associate me with The Facts of Life, but DS9 is really my favorite show. My username for the longest time was Dax! :)
I don't dislike the entire DS9 series. Some episodes are good it's just that; after the 3rd season some episodes got too dramatic and hard to follow. But I like most of it; for instance that one wher Quark, Rom, Nog and Odo went back to Roswell, New Mexico in 1949.

The episode you mention is fourth season's "Little Green Men". That was a terrific episode. It guest starred Megan Gallagher. I love how Odo shapshifted into a dog.
I think the series really began to take off in the third season. I think seasons one and two were a mixed bad. There were a couple of gems like, "Emissary", "Duet" and "In The Hands of the Prophets", but the first two years also had some really bad episodes. With season three they got their warship the Defiant, and it was also the start of the amazing Dominion conflict/war story arc. DS9 along with The X-Files was really the start of television shows with ungoing storylines. Without these two shows you would not have current shows like 24 and Lost.
I also think DS9 had the best character development. Even better than the original series. When DS9 ended you really knew the inside out of each of the characters. As much as I love TNG, I don't think the characters developed as well as they could have on the show. Even after seven season and four movies we knew very little about many of the characters like Geordi, Troi, Dr. Crusher or even Riker to a degree.
Mr. Television 05-15-2009, 10:39 PM I'm not a fan of any of the Star Treks which is surprising since I like many sci-fi shows.

Skywalker 06-22-2009, 09:23 PM I remember watching it daily on WGN in the early 80's when I actually got that channel. Critics hated that show like they did most of Aaron Spelling's shows. He knew what the public liked though. :D
I finally bought the first Season of Charlie's Angels today. :D I watched the first 2 episodes so far. I don't know why critics hated this show. It's a lot better than today's dramas, IMO. It seems to be more appreciated now, however. In the latest TV Guide, theres a list of the top 100 episodes of all time and "Angels in Chains" made the list. I'll probably watch that episode tomorrow.

You're going to enjoy that episode Justin. I know. I don't know why the critics hated that show so much. It didn't pretend to be anything serious. It was just there to entertain us and that it did. Aaron Spelling didn't have that many shows that were on the critics best lists but he knew what the public wanted to see. I liked all the seasons of CA but the first season was the best. I just loved Jill when I was a kid. I couldn't get enough of her.

The ending was great when they stole that truck and threw potatoes at the Sheriff's car. And of course, the shower scene was great too! :D Exactly. I don't care if a show is "well written" or "critically acclaimed", as long as it entertains me, thats all that matters. I don't think it bothered him. He had the last laugh. I'm sure he made more money than all those critics combined.

I used to listen to it from the tv in the living room. I remember I was so glad the next year when the show got moved to 9 but then Farrah left the show. :( Cheryl Ladd was a good replacement though. I'm glad they're finally releasing the 4th season. It's about time. They should have put the 5th season with it since there are only 13 episodes in it. I don't want to have to wait another 5 years for that to come out.

Yea the show was dying during the last season. Looking at the episode guides there were actually 17 episodes but when it originally aired, the season premiere was 3 hours long. They still should combine them though. Julie was my least favorite Angel but she did have her good points too.

Nighthawk76 06-25-2009, 09:36 PM Today has been kind of a bummer. Both Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett have died well before their times. I wasn't a big fan of Michael's and wasn't a fan of Farrah's at all (before my time) but I think it is really sad that both have passed on. I honestly thought Farrah would pull through. She was such a strong and dertermined woman that I thought that she would somehow pull through.

No kidding. I know John Ritter died on the 11th but technically it was after midnight on the 12th when we got word of his passing. So to me I consider him to have died on the 12th. If he'd been east of Montana for sure, yeah... ANYWAY.
I text my mom whenever I find out that someone has died. I didn't text her to tell her about Ed McMahon on Tuesday, but I texted her both times today about Farrah and then Michael. When I told her about Michael, she went "HOLY ****!"
****, I was NOT expecting him at all. Total ****ing shock.
Skywalker 06-25-2009, 10:27 PM I know it's been said many times, but it really is weird how a lot of major celebrities die in 3's. When I found out Farrah had passed away I wondered to myself "Ed's gone and now Farrah. Who's next?" Never did I expect it to be Michael Jackson. The man was larger than life. So sad. He was supposed to be making a huge comeback too. :( I probably saw that Thriller video he did about 100 times, back when MTV actually played music videos. "Rock With You" was my favorite MJ song.
Man, the media is going to have one hell of a field day with this. If you thought they made a big deal of Anna Nicole, you ain't seen nothing yet.

Larry King already announced that he's having a live show at midnight...that should tell you how big this is. I remember when Elvis died....it was huge but there wasn't the 24 hour news channels then. I think MJ is just a tragic story. I had a feeling it would turn out this way eventually. Nah, it is okay..I am better off...I wish this person, the very best, but i have dealt with a lot of drama in my life; and I am just not in the mood to deal with any more...
Skywalker 06-26-2009, 12:22 AM I think John Ritter was the worse for me. I was a wreck that whole week watching his tribute on TV Land. I was sad when Bob Hope and Jimmy Stewart died but they were old and you were expecting it. I think with John it was because he was such a big part of my childhood. Whenever I was down, I knew I could turn the tv on and he would cheer me up.
John's death was the worse for me too. It was hard to watch Three's Company for a few weeks after he passed. Even now, sometimes I'll watch it and still not believe that he is gone. :(
Theda Bara 06-26-2009, 12:30 AM Oh, this made my eyes watery...

I think that episode with him and the coffin is the hardest to watch. I used to think that was one of the funniest episodes they ever made of Three's Company.

That's sad . She definately was one of the biggest icons of the 1970's.
Skywalker 06-26-2009, 12:33 AM God, I know, what an incredible and courageous lady. I am thinking of watching Charlie's Angels DVDs in her honor
I watched a few episodes tonight. TV Land is supposed to have some sort of tribute to Farrah. They're going to air that reality series she did, Chasing Farrah. I'm normally not a fan of reality shows, but I'm going to watch it. I'm not sure when it's going to air though.

Yes, i thought those words were very moving; it seems the biggest icons of both the 1970's & 1980's died today...

Actually, I think of one the very first television performances she appeared on was an episode of, The Partridge Family. I am, definitely, digging out that DVD first; and she was on an episode of, S.W.A.T. about a year before, she landed the role of Jill on Charlie's Angels. I am going to watch that, too...
Skywalker 06-26-2009, 12:38 AM My back started acting up last night. I can't even move around real good right now. I have my baseball bat to help me walk.
I'm sorry to hear that Sonny. :( I get back pain sometimes while I'm on the computer. I'm sure it's because of the way I'm sitting, but when it gets real bad I have to lie down for a few minutes. Thankfully that doesn't happen very often.

She was so young in those shows. The last shows I saw her in was on the Guardian. She got an Emmy nomination for that role. TV Land should air that too along with the IDOJ episodes she was in and maybe Harry-O. I can find shows for them to air. lol
Mr. Television 06-26-2009, 12:42 AM Yes, i thought those words were very moving; it seems the biggest icons of both the 1970's & 1980's died today...
You are so right. I never thought of it like that.

Thanks Justin. :) Back pains are the worse. Luckily it isn't all the way out. It mainly hurts when I try to get up or sit down. Hopefully it'll be gone soon. I haven't had a back problem in a long time.
Theda Bara 06-26-2009, 12:47 AM You are so right. I never thought of it like that.
I have been listening to Michael Jackson, since I found out that he died; some his songs, really make me miss the 1980's, especially his videos, when MTV was awesome...

You are in my thoughts, Sonny. I suffer from back pain, once in a while; one time it was so bad, that I couldn't even get out of bed.
Skywalker 06-26-2009, 12:49 AM I think that episode with him and the coffin is the hardest to watch. I used to think that was one of the funniest episodes they ever made of Three's Company.
That's still one of my favorite episodes, but that's understandable. :( I still have the tribute to him that they did on Larry King Live. I only watched it that one time, but I'll never get rid of that tape.

Yea I don't even think they play many music videos anymore.

Thanks Tara. :) I had it like that once. It took me 2 hours just to get out of bed and back spasms are really painful.

One I missed about that era was the clothes; some funky threads, baby!

I taped that special they had for her and Michael Jackson on ABC earlier tonight. I'll probably watch that this weekend.

I should have recorded those tributes TV Land had of John. It was one of the last great things that station aired. They haven't had any tributes to anybody else that died. All they care about is their reality shows.

 They should have people like you running TV Land... real fans of classic tv. Not these yuppie schmucks they have there now.

I taped the entire series of The Flip Wilson Show, when it aired on TV Land a while back; on one of the episodes, the Jackson 5 performed. I should look for that as well..It would probably an entire week, because I have, at least, 300 VHS tapes in my closet:lol:

I like his early stuff. Off the Wall and Thriller were classics. MTV actually played a few of his videos tonight... I was shocked.

I haven't seen Harry-O since the 1970's. Farrah had a recurring role as Harry's neighbor before she landed on CA's.
TV Land could also air her appearances from the $6 Million Dollar Man.
Skywalker 06-26-2009, 01:05 AM One I missed about that era was the clothes; some funky threads, baby!
 The 70's is my favorite decade. I wish I had been around back then. Great movies, music and tv. They had it all! The women knew how to dress too. Gotta love bellbottoms.

Bell-bottoms rock. I had a pair that I wore up to recently. I wore them all the time, till they were literally following a part. So flattering and they went with everything. Damn, I miss those pants:lol:

add on the Burning Bed and some of her tv movies and they could have a week for her too. They won't do it though. They have people in charge now that doesn't like classic tv unfortunately.

I can't remember the last time I saw 6 Million Dollar Man but I'd probaby die of shock if they aired it. That show should be out on DVD.
