Two things to rant about this evening:

First of all, Another bad dining experience. This happened Christmas eve at Applebees. My girlfriend and I were going to Pizza Hut then to K-Mart but we decided to to reverse that and hit K-Mart first. We left there about 6:50 and arrived at Pizza Hut just before 7:00 only to be told that they were closing at 7:00 that night.

The only thing we could find still open was Applebees and we decided to try that since none of us had ever eaten there before. The first thing we ordered was the mozzarella cheese sticks for an appetizer. I told the server as plain as I could speak to please bring us 2 things of marinara sauce and instead she brings us a double portion in one bowl

The cheesesticks were lukewarm at best and were like rubber on the inside, It was obvious to me that they had been sitting under heat lamps for quite a while because they were not cooked fresh.

I ordered the quesedilla combo and she got a steak. The tortillas were so bad that it was all I could do to eat 2 of them. It felt like I was chewing on cardboard. I didn't complain about anything for 2 reasons, It was Christmas eve and the 4 people at the next table were griping at the waitress for what they had been served and I didn't want to cause her anymore grief and besides, None of this was her fault. I paid the bill and went on about my business but I will be calling their home office Monday morning.

The next gripe is about an eBay customer who sent me a message regarding an item I sold recently. My normal shipping method is thru the postal service but in some instances I will ship UPS if it's cheaper. During the course of the auction, This clown asks me if I would ship it UPS to Seattle and I said no problem if he was willing to pay the extra costs. He then writes back to thank me and everything was fine until he had the audacity to remind me that UPS was the service that uses brown trucks. :rolleyes: After 6 years of selling and 44 years upon this Earth wouldn't it be obvious by now that I would know the color of trucks used by UPS? :mad:

one of my ex boyfriends feels the need to copy EVERYTHING i do. first of all he didn't even have a myspace until he met me, he didn't know what it was. then he started dressing like me, wearing beaded bracelets like me, and buying my exact outfits. then, he added all my friends on my myspace. i eventually changed my style and guess what, he's starting to infringe on that too. i also took shirtless pictures for myspace and have started working out and guess who did the same thing right after!! he also bragged to me about having ****ed my ex, alanna, as if that is something to be proud of. i'm sick of him copying my every move because he is devoid of any knowledge of who/what HE is.

i decided to just block him on myspace so he can't see my pictures, and i can't see his.

A CD I bought from ebay was mistakenly sent to my previous address and the post office cant track it. They seem to think it went back to the sender, so if it did, it means I have to wait again for it.

Happy New Years...Let's see what has happened so far.

Power Surge on New Year's Eve messed up my computer.

All stores closed on New Years so I have to wait till Friday to take it in the shop.

My Dad gets the Flu on New Years so our family dinner is postponed.

Yeah, most grocery stores discontinue egg nog the day of or a day after Christmas. At my store it was the day after Christmas.

I'm sick of living here. Not only is there absolutely nothing to do in this lame town but neither of my parents work and both are here all day and they argue and complain about everything, not to mention my 4-year-old brother who has been acting up. Thankfully I'm going back to college Tuesday for a few hours a day because it's about to drive me absolutely nuts. I'm going to try and find a job soon so I can start planning to move out. I've had it. :mad:

On top of that, my laptop adapter died back on December 17th. The next day I bought one of those Targus universal adapters at Wal-Mart(for $90) that comes with different tips for different brands(but only one for each), well, right before Midnight New Year's Eve one of the connector wires broke after TWO weeks. None of the others fit and I can't find any online, luckily my dad was able to use some wire he found to replace it but it's very fragile. :rolleyes: I'm so irritated that it broke so soon especially since I spent so much on it.

and that brings me to my final point, why does pretty much every brand have a different connector. Gah.

yep, same thing happened to my compaq about a month ago, my adapter shorted out had to buy one at staples for $125 and although it works its not the right size exactly so its very loosely in the ac hole and comes out easily. i had to put the battery in my laptop which i don't like doing as it makes it get hotter but had no choice cause the cord comes out so frequently it kept shutting my laptop completely off. can't wait to get my new dell! we got it off qvc but it won't be shipped until jan. 20

The on-screen tellers are a REAL BIG HELP when you have a goddamned severe hearing impairment, and no actual teller counter exists at the bank you go to. :mad: I know it speeds things up faster now, but what happened to OPTIONS?? Stupid.

Also, my mom could have put away her damn phone for ONE MINUTE when she was helping me out at the bank - all she was doing was TEXTING. Yeah, that's TOTALLY important. I had vibrate on my phone SHUT OFF so I could do my business faster. When she wants my help with something, I drop what I was doing because I know she wants help NOW, no questions asked. GRRRR.

That's happened to me too but I don't work at Target. I usually show up five minutes before I need to be at work, and as I'm heading toward the back to sign myself in, customers stop me to ask ridiculous questions that I never know the answers to. "In what aisle can I find _____ ?" or "Can you help me take my groceries to my car?" And of course, if I even dare SUGGEST that I didn't even sign in yet and I have to do that first before helping anyone or if I even say, "I'm technically not here, I didn't sign in yet" the manager reprimands me for "disrespecting" a customer. As if the customer who told me "You can sign in later, helping me is more important" ISN'T being disrespectful?

Wasn't from Old Navy, was it? My bf bought me some clothes from oldnavy.com and had them sent to me. I open them Christmas day and instead of a white cami, I get a red pair of baby pants. Ugh, so I have to send them back so I can get what my bf paid for. Based on what he's telling me, I may be getting the damn baby pants BACK. I clearly wrote on the receipt that I did not receive the cami and they could clearly see a red pair of infant pants was NOT on the recepit anywhere, but it sounds like I'm still going to get baby pants again. :rolleyes: Can't wait for this box to come.

That Doogie Howser Season 2 DVD is still eluding me! First it was ordered as a Christmas present, but there turned out to be a problem with one of the DVDs. So I ordered it myself and it arrived for Christmas but the seller sent Season 4 instead of Season 2! I've ordered it again, thirteen days ago - I got an email stating it should arrive somewhere between 6th January and 16th January - but I have had no email confirmation of the order being dispatched. I don't know for sure if they've actually dispatched it yet, so I'm a bit worried. I just want the DVD!

I disagree, I worked for Walmart and they were very good to the employees. Now I don't know if it was just that particular store, but we were always paid on time, and I myself was paid $10 an hour to be a people greeter which is a lot more than minimum wage which I think is $7 for CT and they had a practice for paying more for experience and promoting from within - I saw many a cashier with little more than a high school diploma work their way up in a very short time to assistant manager positions. They also treated employees several times a month to pizza parties/barbeque parties/ice cream parties etc. and all employess who worked an 8 hour shift got 2 15 minute breaks and an hour for lunch. Walmart is not this evil place people make it out to be. I've picked up plenty of items in Target - clothing and non that have "Made in China/Honduras/Thailand" etc labels on them so they're not any better than any other chain.
Everyone claims to hate Walmart yet they're one of the few stores that made a profit this xmas season and only one seeing financial stability or even gain in this economic climate. In fact MSNBC reported that Walmart made more than Sears, Target and JC Penney combined in xmas sales. So someone must be shopping at Walmart.

^^ Eh, we all shop there, I just get annoyed every time, mainly because of the other patrons. Our Wal-Mart is across from our Target, so both are just as convenient as the other, I just prefer Target's atmosphere. We do have a decent Wal-Mart, but it's like 20 miles away.

Wal-Mart also seems to stock their shelves a lot right when there are many customers there and all it does is clog up the aisle more; I've never seen that at Target except for a guy delivering bread. I don't know why Wal-Mart does that...the shelves are never bare. :confused:

They did that a few times here the winter of 1995-96. One time, my school sent everybody home early for the weekend (it was a Thursday or something), because it was going to be right around -50, -60 degrees BEFORE windchills the next day, and it was already ****ing cold that day to start with.

I have a picture somewhere of my grandma holding up the front page of the newspaper here when the area got to -86 degrees. Not sure if that was the actual temperature, or what it felt like with wind chill included. I just remember "-86" in really big numbers on the front page.

Well, a week of 12 hour work days does result in a very nice check, for sure. :) Also, I do believe that good hard work is good for the soul. However, last August I worked 12 hour days for an entire month and by the end of that month I was ready to drop. And mind you this is 12 hour work days working with college students. :lol: In the end though, it's okay because I really like my job. :)

Not only do I feel that they could have said something sooner (I guess they wanted to keep searching first, but still, we handed them in over two and a half months ago) - BUT I think I've deleted mine. I usually keep assignments for about a month after submitting them, and then tend to delete them to free up space on my memory stick. So I'm going to have to re-write the thing!

It's so annoying. I'm a bit irritated with myself for not keeping it but how was I to know they'd be lost? I'm also annoyed with lecturer for losing them; I understand these things happen, but even so...

This semester, I enrolled in a Film & TV Acting class at my university. I decided on this after taking an acting workshop last Sept, something that I really really enjoyed so I decided to give acting a try. Classes started this past Wednesday and it wasn't as I expected it to be. Our first assignment was to create a character and present it in front of the class; I panicked. I panicked so much that I skipped Monday's class and I'm thinking of skipping tomorrow's class too, then going Monday for a "fresh start". I created a character but I presented it to my Mom and she didn't really like it. If the professor had given a script or monologue to learn I would've been more relaxed. I've been stressed over this since last week and I really don't know what to do. :rant:

This semester, I enrolled in a Film & TV Acting class at my university. I decided on this after taking an acting workshop last Sept, something that I really really enjoyed so I decided to give acting a try. Classes started this past Wednesday and it wasn't as I expected it to be. Our first assignment was to create a character and present it in front of the class; I panicked. I panicked so much that I skipped Monday's class and I'm thinking of skipping tomorrow's class too, then going Monday for a "fresh start". I created a character but I presented it to my Mom and she didn't really like it. If the professor had given a script or monologue to learn I would've been more relaxed. It's not silly. I feel your pain, really. Certain classes require a lot of "all eyes on you" type of work and it's terrifying. But when you think about it, I'm sure all of the other kids feel the same way. For all you know they'll come up with rediculous characters while yours turns out amazing. :p Good luck :).

eh, i get kind of like that when we have composition assignments in my music theory class that have to be played for everyone. i'm always scared that i made a mistake in following the instructions or that i just made something in it sound weird. just the other day, it wasn't until the instructor played a few people's assignments on the piano that i realized i'd done part of it totally wrong, so i had to erase the whole thing and re-compose it as fast as i could before he asked for my paper. after he played it a few people said the last chord sounded cool, and the instructor said it sounded different from the rest because there was a mistake in it. :lol: go figure.

Hollywood you're not alone. I got the boot from my job. I knew they were cutting back and I knew there was a possibility this would happen, but I didnt think it would be this soon. Here in Kalamazoo the unemployment rate went up higher thanks to me.

In a lot of cases, since businesses aren't making enough money they have to lay off workers and in some cases have to close down. Then the people who are out of work can't spend as much and so they aren't giving as much money to retailers and other businesses. People aren't spending and busineeses aren't earning enough money. This results in a bad ecomomy where many people are out of work and businesses are going under.

In my case though I work at a college so my problem is different. The school recently began using a new computer system that does much of the work that was being done by people like me. So there may come a time where our services aren't needed any longer.

My husband and I have been on a massive Desperate Housewives kick. We watch them as fast as Netflix sends them. We're up until 5 am sometimes, lol. We had planned a DH marathon this weekend, but my there we no DVDs in my mailbox today. Damn you, Netflix. They mailed out two yesterday. We always get them the next day. I was so disappointed.

I had an obsession with Melrose Place for a time last year. Saw the first 4 seasons(which were apparently the best) and loved it. Very similar to DH and had Marcia Cross and Doug Savant in it.

Right now my obsession is Friends(which I never watched on NBC). I've watched 200 episodes(almost all of them) in the last 4 weeks, most on YouTube and a few in syndication. :eek: It's been causing me to be less interested in primetime TV lately.

Yes, it definitely is a commitment. That's what has kept me from trying DH so far. Though, in between Melrose and 90210 seasons, I plan to start renting it from Blockbuster.

I know how being sleep deprived from a show goes. I would always say "just one more episode and then I'll sleep." That's when that one more episode would end on a huge cliffhanger, and I'd quickly start up another. :lol: The first season of Melrose starts a bit slower, but once Heather Locklear joined the cast it picked up speed fast and didn't slow down. By the time season 2 rolls around, it gets insanely addictive.

I'm really sick and tired of the way things are in my life. My parents are no help either and I feel like I'm almost supporting them in a way(very long story). Conversely I'm struggling to get by weekly just paying for gas to go to college and no one is hiring in this pathetic town. :mad:

Okay, since when is PE necessary for a English Lit degree? I understand that we have to have a "well rounded" education, but come on! This is a bit much!!

Second, my parents are driving me crazy. I moved out of the house and stopped speaking to them for a reason. I made that choice because of the way they've judged me and the way I live my life.

They called me ten times this weekend. All of the sudden wanting to talk. I decided to try and bury the hatchet. Big mistake. It turned into a ten minute preaching session. I ended up in tears. I finally told them to forget my phone number.

Am sick of hearing about how I'm going to hell for the things I chose to do....

Is it straight-out PE, or do you have options? I had to take a PE course for my degree - journalism - as well. But they gave me options... Some of them I can remember offhand were pilates, yoga, and bowling. I wanted to take bowling, but that didn't work out so I went with pilates. That was actually pretty fun and I didn't mind! :)

At my college I had to take 3 athletic credits. I signed up for softball, volleyball and aerobics. I sucked at all of them. :eek: :rofl:

Well...I can't exactly get a job with creative writing. Editing isn't a major here, but I wouldn't mind trying it someday. I'm thinking of maybe switching my Communications (my major) concentration to tv/radio instead of journalism. It's more what I want to do anyway, which is write for the tv news. I was told it was better to have a concentration in journalism if that's what I wanted to do, but I dunno. I'm not a huge fan of journalism. I wouldn't even mind taking a course in TV speaking. It would seriously stress me out a lot less because it doesn't require going out and talking to people one on one. I'd be less stressed talking to a camera, tbqh. :lol: Guh. Maybe that's what I'll do...but I still have to get through this one class. It doesn't help that my teacher LOVES to call on me. ohno:

If that's what you want to do, go for it. Or try taking one class or semester of it to see how you like it. If not, you can always go back. I took a semester of health sciences and found out it wasn't for me. Though, I wouldn't have found that out if I didn't go for it, and it wouldn't have lead me to where I am. Ugh, I HATE that. I have one teacher like that this semester also. We have these little activities we do(write a short paper on something) and then she wants people to read them in front of the class(she tries to get volunteers and then just randomly picks people). She's now saying that if you don't want to read it you won't even get credit for it. :soapbox: Gah. I haven't been called on yet but I know I will be, the semester is young. :rolleyes:
