Christmas is over, and I feel good. ;)

I feel good because today my friend Preston introduced me to his nephew Todd Linden, who is a professional baseball player. He is currently a free agent, but in the past he has played for the LA Dodgers, Florida Marlins, and Oakland, and Cleveland's minor league teams. He was up on Preston's roof shoveling snow, which made me chuckle since it's not everyday you see a professional athlete shoveling snow for someone. :lol: He was a really nice guy, and it made my day meeting him. Look for him to be playing again very soon. He's too good not to.

I'm still reveling in the news that I'm going to be an aunt again, come July. None of us saw this coming , so it really was a surprise!! :D

Christmas is over, and I feel good. ;)

I had to take my car in this morning to have the muffler looked at (NOT at Midas, of course :lol:). Thank goodness, it's not nearly as bad as I thought it would be and isn't going to cost nearly as much as I expected. Thank goodness!! My brother had the day off, so I ended up driving his car to work today.

Finally had Christmas down my Dads, tonight with my Dad, brother, Grandmother and I. Oh, and our crazy pets (2 cats and a dog) lol.

I've went to bed really early the last 2 nights, and I plan to go to bed tonight really early as well. Last night, I fell asleep around 8:30 pm and I got up at 3:30 in the morning and stayed up. So I got my 7 1/2/ 8 hours of sleep in the weirdest but earliest way lol.

Grandfather is back and doing well, after being in the hospital for 4 days. Real good weekend. Got ahold of Sony and I'm sending my computer out to get fully fixed, whenever they send me the package to fix up and send out the laptop! can't wait to get it back.

still on Christmas break- good stuff.

I went to CVS last night. The bill was $26.65. All we had to pay was 65 cents. We had coupons upon coupons, CVS extra value bucks, you name it. It was great. :D

I ran into my former Girl Scout leader, whom I hadn't seen in YEARS, tonight at Best Buy. I went to school with her daughter, who was also in the troop, as was my sister. We had quite a nice chat. I felt like I was in middle school again (in a good way). :D

Im just glad to be alive. Almost losing someone close to you will make you realize how precious life is. Have a great day everyone!

I was feeling really insecure and upset at a few things, and she really genuinely took the time to make me feel better, and showed that she really cared. WOW, that is a really pretty dress...

I bought it eight years ago to wear to my stepdaughter's formal wedding. It's classic and will never go out of style. It cost almost $400, and I sent Sarah the drop rhinestone earrings that I bought to match. Those were $80. With that neckline, I had my hairdresser put my hair up. It's been worn five times. Twice by me, my niece wore it to two proms, and a friend wore it to a work Christmas party at the Hilton. It's high-quality. Anyone who knows anything about sequined clothes knows that there's a difference, and cheap sequins look cheap.

I have no use for the dress, and it's been sitting in my closet for a couple of years now. I only wish I thought to send it to Sarah for her prom last year; however, I know she'll put it to good use with her singing career and most definitely to piss of her ex and his wife, lol. She looks beautiful in the gown. :)

I can go down a belt size altogether now. :D

:lol: At the rate I've been going, I'll be at my goal weight by the summer! Yipee. :D So glad I bought my Wii Fit when I did (last summer!). Not just because it's perpetually sold out everywhere, but because it's such a damn good investment. A $90 one-time payment as opposed to, say, a $30/month membership to a gym. I've been using my Wii Fit a LOOOOOOOOOOT this winter because it's been insanely cold and I don't drive, so I'm not taking myself to a gym. :lol:

So lately I've been stressing about my magazine writing class because it's filled with seniors and juniors who know what they're doing, intern at all these places, blah blah...not to mention it'll consist of talking to people *shudder* something people with social anxiety don't do well.

ANYWAY...we had to write a fake query letter based on an article we read, and the professor read them anonymously in class. He read mine first, and these juniors and seniors...editor of the school paper, and some other really smart, know all communications girl, had such good things to say about what I wrote (one said I did something in my letter she wish should would have, but didn't). I was so pumped. There I've been sitting in that class feeling like an idiot, and these people are saying how good it was. I feel less dumb now. Yay.

Oh, trust me, I need to. :lol: I've always been healthy medical-wise. I mean, I do get sick and all that, especially since I had mono in 2006. Having mono has messed up my immune system. Used to be I'd get over a cold in a few days, now it can take me up to a month to shake it completely. But otherwise, I have perfect BP and great cholesterol.

I went to Scheel's (regional sporting goods store found all over the Midwest) yesterday to find an one-piece swimsuit so I can take up swimming again. I had to read the sizing guides for Tyr and Speedo swimsuits. Both brands stopped at a size 40, but they had different pants sizes/swimsuit sizes that they stopped at. If you wear a size 13 or 14 in jeans, you'd need a size 40 Tyr swimsuit. It was 15/16 for a size 40 Speedo swimsuit. I tried on a size 40 Speedo suit, and couldn't get my legs through the suit, it was so tight! Tyr suits had resistance too, but was more forgiving.

In the end, I went with a size 38L(arge) Tyr swimsuit, which I guess makes me about a pants size 11/12 at this point.

I normally don't post a (mostly) full-body shot of myself online. If I do, I'm usually layered up or wearing a hoodie or whatever. But it definitely is obvious I have a fair amount of meat on me, so I shy away from wearing OMFGFORMFITTING clothing. However, with being a bridesmaid next year... Yep. I'm already FEELING good, but I want to also look super-duper awesome in what I know will be a form-fitting dress.

For a long time I did, but after seeing and hearing all the people in my support group-some who have it far worse than me-and reading the posts by you and Lauren about your fibromyalgia (which I'd also like to talk to you two about someday) I don't mind at all talking about it. (plus the fact that 5 people in my family also have it and don't mind talking about it helps)

I got news that I've been accepted into a high level English Lit program. There are only 10 spots open each year. Apparently, they saw something special in me. I hadn't heard anything by the end of last week and was sure that they'd passed me up again. I'd applied for it last year and was passed over. I'm so glad that they've decided to give me a shot at it!! Yay!!

I just got an e-mail fom someone I hadn't heard from in 35 years!!!

In the next week or so I may be meeting somebody from one of the forums I go to(not this on, but maybe someday).:)

Great mail day today. Two Desperate Housewives DVDs from Netflix, and some nice freebies. A magazine, and some oversized samples of facial moisturer, shampoo and moisturizer.

First of all, last night I went to the post office to pickup a parcel for me there and lo and behold, didn't Janice do it again! I got the most wonderful "care package" from her that I've still yet to thank her personally for (but hope to during a marathon phone call sometime over the weekend)!

She sent me some oyster crackers (we can't get 'em up here anymore), a Dove bar (and I know there's something else hidden under there - just haven't unwrapped that parcel yet). Then nice stick antiperspirent (sp) that looks like it could make Matthew Mcconaughey smell good and assorted magazines that I'm really interested in! Especially the one with Fran Drescher and her pom on the cover!!!

And like Sarah's parcel, mine was covered with all sorts of great stickers! She doesn't just send you something - the presentation alone is a gift! It gave me an idea for what I'm going to do to the parcel I'm going to send her next! Also - the U.S. Post Office is getting rich off of our Janice. I think we should take up a collection to help her out. If you can imagine, the box cost her $26 to send to me!


Then, I had my 2nd job interview today. It went GREAT! The VP said, "Well, I'm Sold!". He just wants me to meet with him, the president and another VP who I'll be working closely with sometime next week. I whipped my thank you email off just before this. I know we'd get along great! He loves dogs - so right there he had me! LOL
The recruiter thought they might not be able to meet my asking salary, but he had no problem giving me what I wanted, plus a couple of added perks (like getting benefits immediately) - and this is all after hearing that 135,000 Canadians lost their jobs in January alone.

This is why I say, no matter how done I get sometimes, there is ALWAYS light just around the corner. You just have to pick yourself up, dust yourself off and get to it. Once it's happened a couple of times, it does get easier to accept each time it happens!

I know! I don't get it myself. I grew up with them in the 60s and into about the mid-70s - then WHAM! Off the market in Canada! Christies used to make them here - they came in a red box. I love them in tomato soup!! If you use regular soda crackers, you have to crunch em up and they go soggy really fast - these guys just float along on top there and if you want them softened, you just sink 'em! LOL My cats and dogs also love them.

It really fries my back bacon that we can't get certain things here in Canada. When you ask, the company will tell you there's "not a big enough market" WTF is THAT all about? 33 million people isn't enough???

So yes - I've been reduced to getting them "contraband" :lol:

It's like when I send asprin with codeine to my aunt in Texas - I wrap them and claim them as "salt & pepper shakers". We get them over the counter here, but it's by prescription in the U.S.. The only reason I send them is that I know they're for her only and she's a retired nurse so she knows what she's doing.

Aww - a sympathetic friend to the South! ;) Thank you! Yah - they're great - you dip them in peanut butter or cheese whiz and the pets go bananas for them! They could market them for that also - pets are a huge industry these days afterall!

That's also why the Olive Garden closed here (or so we were told when we wrote to them). Never made any sense. There used to be lineups out the door both at lunch and dinner. When I worked close to one, I'd go there at least 3 times a week. We now have to make it a day trip over to Lewiston, New York to get to the nearest Olive Garden. And we've done it a couple of times. The border guards just look at us like we're nuts cuz when they ask, I usually go on a rant about products and services being discontinued up here. :lol:

I've also hit Tops "Friendly Markets" when I've been in Buffalo to pick up other grocery items you can't get here.

Same here. I've always been skeptical of people who hate animals. Not loving them is one thing, but when people HATE CATS, it sends up a red flag for me. I always say that anyone who hates cats has never lived with one.

Personally, I was always a huge dog lover. Back in 1989, my husband and I were living in an apartment that didn't allow dogs, but did allow cats. I never had a cat growing up, just dogs. I figured, hey why not, I'll give it a try. I bought Foxy at a pet store on a Saturday afternoon, July 8, 1989. A beautiful Persian, a dead ringer for the Fancy Feast cat. Well, the joke was on me because for the next 16+ years, this furbaby took ownership of my heart, and never gave it back, even when he passed on in 1989.

I bought two Persians after that, and I love them dearly; yet I learned that just like people, animals can't be replaced.

I feel good today because Netflix delivered two top notch movies. We're getting Chinese take-out. It's cold today, 34 degrees, and a nice day to stay home, and not think about the next Wednesday, where at 2:45, I'm having an MRI in a closed machine, where I'll probably die of a heart attack from the anxiety. Today I feel good though, lol.

^ Molly and Jazz are big cats (not fat). Do you know how much they weigh?
Jazz looks big, but she's actually pretty light. Maybe 10 pounds, if that. Molly is probably about 12-13 pounds.

Got to meet this writer Sue Whitall who is on one of the other forums I go to(its always cool to meet someone from a forum board), and also got to meet Catherine Anderson from the Marvelettes and got pics and autographs so I am stoked.

My Mom and I went to Best Buy today and bought my Dad a 52 inch Samsung TV for his early birthday present and it will deliver next Saturday and Dad doesn't know :D

I bought a cute pair of purple pj's. I also bought a cute, white sweater type jacket with a hood. It has butterflies on it. :) It was only $7.00.

the rest of my classes this week, except for one tomorrow, are all cancelled thanks to part of the music department going on tour. i'm really glad because i'm being forced to leave for spring break early (thursday) and i was annoyed that i would have to miss school.

I feel good today because I have such amazing friends who are always there for me when I need them. I can ALWAYS count on you guys to pick me up when I'm feeling down!! :D

I feel absolutely awesome today, because my dear friend Janice, who I love with all my heart, totally made my day last night. She sent me the most beautiful get well card, with two awesome gifts inside!!! :D The card was so sweet, she actually had so much to say to me in it, that she actually ran out of room on the card, and even had to use the back of the card to finish. :lol: My mom was with me when I opened the card, and was amazed at her kindness, and kept saying: you have the most amazing friends over and over again. I told her she was right, and reminded her that Janice was one of the people who sent her a get well card after her heart surgery, and she began gushing over her even more. :) Janice truly is a living Angel, and there's no way I could ever pay her back for all she's done for me!!!!! Your acts of kindness and love towards me over the years, will always be with me, and as you've said to me many times, I'm here for life, and you'll never get rid of me as a friend either!!! ;) I love you Janice, and may God Bless You Richly!!!!!!!!!!! :hug:

Those cats are gorgeous, and it's so hard to believe that they're not related. They look like twins. I love Jasmine's stripped tail. The markings on both cats are beautiful.
