I'm into translated manga, myself....the whole idea of overtly muscled men, in their underwear, fighting crime, is just totally wierd to me ^_^'

It's perfectly acceptable when it's for the good of mankind.

OR FOR YOUR COUNTRY.

I like all sorts of different types of comics from the 1940s-70s.

Is Steve Rogers still dead?

Comic book scans have become quite popular. I have over 150 dvds of comics that have been scanned to disk. You can put a heck of a lot on a disk. A comic book reader is on the disk and you read them on your computer as if they were in your lap.

As a kid, I enjoyed the Captain America series but do not think much of the movie serial from the 40's. Most comic book heroes were translated into movie serials as there was name recognition.

To me the best was Captain Marvel.

Yes, even though Thor has said he could bring him back if necessary.

To me, Cap will always be my favorite... but I also love the X-Men, Deadpool, and Batman.

I like Sonic, Looney Tunes, Simpsons, and Futurama Comics.

I also like the Disney Comics and there's a site called http://www.inducks.org which specializes with these comics.

my nephew likes Superman comics; I just found out he pays something like $2 for them.

I can remember paying just 15 or 20 CENTS for them!!!

Most comics are 2.99 and up. Archie comics are still a deal at 2.25
I find that most DC/Marvel Comics are nothing but one big soap opera. Way too dark and overly-serious.

Mad Magazine is now 4.99

And I can remember when comics were only a dime (some of 'em, Dells for
example, were up to 52 pages--and no ads!).

Growing up in the wilds of Brooklyn, comics were also a dime. The only comics that cost more were the "classics" 15 cents was the price. Cliff notes weren't in vogue then, so book reports required the classics.

I lived in a 8 story apartment house and there about 10 kids my age. Comics came to Irving's candy store on the 20th of the month. Each of us were required to purchase a particular comic. Mine was Captain Marvel, featuring Billy Batson and his arch enemy Dr. Sivana. We then had our trading assignments. By the following month all had read the ten comics, and it only cost us a dime apiece. Some that we purchased were Superman, Batman, Plastic man. Crime doesn't pay and the Lone Ranger.

OMG! I remember when comics were a quarter! That's right - a QUARTER! I still read comic books today, but today they're more stylized and story-driven than the comics I remember when I was growing up ('60s and '70s) - comparingly, they were simplistic and mostly character-driven.

I really enjoyed reading the Batman graphic novels Dark Knight and A Death In The Family, and also Crisis on Infinite Earths. My favorite superheroes are Spider-Man and Batman.

Most of my comics are DCs from 1974 into the 1990s. Back when I started buying regularly, the cover price increase from 20 cents to 25 was about to happen. Most of what I buy these days are collections of old comics, like the Showcase Presents trade paperbacks.

I still buy the occasional new DC comic. The "Johnny DC" titles like Looney Tunes sell for $2.25 per copy.

The first comics I ever bought were Dennis the Menace in 1966...12 cents a copy! My uncle was a comic freak, had everything incl Archie, Batman, Superman, the first Hulk and Wolverine, Jerry Lewis and TV comics..I think he even had Spiderman #1....my Granma sold them all at a flea market for $2 (For the whole box)

I watch comics that have been adapted into TV shows. So like, what I know of the Hulk came from what Kenneth Johnson twisted it into. Ditto Deborah Joy Levine and Superman.
