Its hard to believe that we will be entering the last year of this decade. It seems like yesterday that we were all waiting up New Years Eve 1999 to see if the world was going to end. This has been a very eventful decade. Here is a list of memorable events from this decade:

* Entering the new millenium in 2000, we all waited with anticipation about Y2K.

* George Bush is elected president November 2000.

* Terrorist attacks hit New York City on September 11, 2001 destroying the Twin Towers.

* Columbia Space Shuttle blows up in 2003.

* August 2005, Hurricane Katrina hits New Orleans.

* John Mark Karr pleads guilty in September 2006 to the murder of Jon Benet Ramsey, but lies about being the suspect.

* Little Caylee Anthony from Florida is missing (June 2008), only to be found dead 6 months later.

This decade has been a huge downer, hasn't it? It actually makes you long for the 90's. :eek:

for a second i was thinking this was the worst decade of my life. then i thought it was the best. then i realized it's the only one i can formulate an opinion on. :grr:

Mmm, I dunno. I lived thru half of the 80s and enjoyed what I do remember of it. I remember all of the 90s... My life in the 90s wasn't that great, mainly because non-family members felt the need to dictate where and what I needed to be with my life (TL;DR story that I'm not going into here). Family life was okay, I guess. But you know what... I miss 90s pop culture, even tho a lot of it blew. I remember a time before reality shows were popular. "Married... With Children" was one of the few shows that pushed the envelope, as far as raunchiness went. Now every show does it.

Goddamn, do I ever miss the 90s. I can't believe that in just a bit here, 1999 will have been a decade ago. :eek:

But I can say this much... since I turned 20 back in 2005, I've had a blast being in my 20s. With the exception of part of 2007, it's been a lot of fun.

well considering its the only decade where i was alive for every year (unless i die in 2009 : o *knocks on wood*) i would have to say it was pretty good. :)

as an 80s child, i have lived through that decade as well as the 90s, and suffice to say i'd much prefer life back in the 80s than now. along with those listed, back in the UK we have experienced 7/7 terrorist attacks (our own 9/11 btw) to name but a couple. also, it terms of popular culture and entertainment, it has gone downhill- tv, films, music we have today, most of them are nowhere as enjoyable as those back in the 70s-90s.

i miss the 80s especially but hey, that's life, although we can also relive our retro glory days via you tube. i know a lot of people in england hated the 80s, but my word, i wonder how many of them would go back on their word considering what a terrible and most would say dangerous society we are living in today.

I hope the 2010's decade will be better than 1990's and 2000's. I graduated high school in 2000 and I turned 21 in 2002. In 2004, Florida had 4 major category hurricanes.

This decade has sucked so far.

It's been a decade, and my Bills STILL haven't made the playoffs- last time they did, Shannen Doherty was still on Charmed!

Hmm, this decade hasn't been either good or bad for me, per se. But a lot has happened. I consider it a decade of major change for me. I graduated high school, got my license, graduated community college & am now going to a 4 year school, met a lot of new friends & got involved with new activities, parents got separated, fell in love a few times (as well as had my heart broken just as many times), had my best friend move away and come back, etc. This decade has seen a LOT of ups and downs for me. Many, many downs, but also a lot of ups, too. I've changed a LOT since the 90s. The 90s were cool from about 1992-1998, but I can remember soooo many more depressing times during that decade (being a teenager ain't easy). I do miss the 90s in terms of pop culture as well.

Ah, well. Let's pray that we have more good times to come. I hope the new decade brings more positivity for everyone :)

true, but since we categorize decades by 80's, 90's etc, this decade would be 2000-2009.

It's weird. The decade I grew up in will officially be over soon. I was born in 1989, so my childhood was the 90's. But the 00's consisted of a lot of changes and all that good stuff. Blah. So hopefully the 10's...ha...will be a lot better.

I believe the next coming decade is accurately referred to as the teens. I have heard this a lot in reference to the 1910s... The teens.
