It would have to be a toss-up between A Christmas Story and It's a Wonderful Life.

I thought that at first. But it is Christmas and Christmas threads are on the main Chit Chat page. So it may be appropriate for it to be in this forum. :)

Very favorite? Probably National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation! :D I really enjoy Home Alone 1 & 2. I have not seen the others. I also like A Christmas Story. It is definitely a Christmas classic.

The 1951 version of Scrooge starring Alistair Simm

1. MIRACLE ON 34TH STREET - 1947 (what can I say...my absolute fav. of any movie holiday or non holiday. Edmund Gwenn is Santa!)
2. SCROOGE (ALASTAIR SIM VERSION) 1951 - Sim is the definitive Scrooge out of any version made. His redemption is inspiring. I always put it on when I feel bad about myself or society and I end up feeling refreshed)
3. NATIONAL LAMPOONS CHRISTMAS VACATION - just laugh out loud fun.
4. HOME ALONE - another fun movie but also sincere. i love when Kevin runs to him mom at the end! brings a tear to my eye.
5. A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS - expresses my feelings toward xmas exactly and puts the season in perspective.
6. RUDOLPH THE RED NOSED REINDEER - wouldn't be xmas with out his blinking beacon! so endearing!
7. GARFIELD CHRISTMAS SPECIAL - for a cartoon, the part where garfield is sitting on grandmas lap makes me cry everytime. i also love the music in this.
8. A CHRISTMAS CAROL (GEORGE C. SCOTT) VERSION - a close second to Sim's portryal.
9. PRANCER - such a sweet movie.
10. HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS - another fun movie. my 2 fav. lines: "maybe xmas he thought doesn't come from a store...maybe christmas perhaps means a little bit more" "welcome christmas while we stand, heart to heart and hand in hand"
11. THE REF - lot of vulgarity but the dysfunction sums up my family.
12. MUPPET FAMILY CHRISTMAS - all the muppets in one place makes for lots of laughs and smiles

I can not pick one I like more than the other.

I got a kick out of Christmas Vacation (the cat munching the lights scene cracks me up every time).

I think my "new" favourite would be The Polar Express. I've got an HDTV and it on Blu-Ray is absolutely incredible - looks almost 3D. Plus the story is fantastic too. Unfortunately, up until a couple of years ago, I could always hear the bells myself - now I can't and it makes me sad.

The Santa Clause. I grew up watching that every year since it came out in 1994 when I was 5.
