Was there ever any signs that he was in discomfort or pain on the show? I don't think there was. Did he die peacefully in his sleep or just collapse? I know that Leukemia in its final stages can be very painful and heartbreaking. Larry showed incredible courage and dedication to the show by staying with Mr. Ed until the end. (He died in August 1963, while Mister Ed was preparing for its 3rd season.)

Question I never found out: How was Roger's absence handled on the show? Was he considered to be away or did he leave Kay? Any further information on this topic would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I dont think Roger's absence was never really explained. After his death we saw Edna Skinner(Kay Addison) a few times but then she was gone. To make up for their losses, the Posts got new neighbors The Kirkwoods.
