What say you?

Religion & Politics, out of all on the list. They are big subject matters and conversations can go and bend in any different way, sparking arguments and controversy. Sports, you get a lot of arguments, but a lot of times the arguments are small and are over something silly. To mention something not on the list, I would also say abortion. Abortion is a heavy topic.

as far as this board is concerned, anything with a reference to homosexuality is guaranteed at least 10 pages of bible scriptures and accusations of bigotry, no matter what the point of the original post was.

I think the words "God" "Heaven" and "Hell" could cause a really huge debate, probably a heated one too.

I remember a kid I knew from another site, I was chatting with him on AIM one time. This kid wasn't really a good friend but we would chat it up about music and other things a lot of times. Well anyway, we talked for like 3 hours alone on religion, heaven, hell, God and a few other things. Craziness.

Religion and Politics are pretty close, but I chose Religion. Most people just don't want to hear about God these days, they think it's some magical fairytale for people who are stuck in a dream world.

That's kind of a given, if you straight out call someone an ethnic slur chances are they're not going to like, no debate about it.

Agreed, If you say it to their face then you'll most likely get the crap beat of you or worse. If you do it on a message board it will most likely get deleted or locked before any argument can ensue.

What I mean is, where's the debate in that? Are you going to debate with someone when they call you a name like that, or are you going to beat the **** out of them? I don't see any debate there.

IMO, it's sports.

I can get pretty upset sometimes.

Religion. I rarely if ever debate it, but if I were to with my close family they'd look at me like I just ate a kitten right in front of them.

True, especially concerning abortion. Many hot button issues of the day, such as gun control, the war, gay rights, etc, are tied into politics, and some involve religion.

Politics..My mother taught me a vital lesson, that I have taken into heart. Never discuss politics or religon, because you might offend someone. To this day, I never indulge in those two subjects (out of respect). :peace:

that's true. i chose religion though because it seems to me that political debates get more heated when people start bringing in nonsense from the bible to support their arguments. i think things are slightly more stable when both sides are basing their arguments on proven fact instead of baseless theory.

I'd say politics. It seems thats the one topic people cant seem to agree to disagree on.

I found that out over the summer during the election when a few of my friends went ballistic over the candidate I was voting for.

Thats one of the reasons why I avoid the subject of politics and keep my opinions to myself, it gets way too heated. Also why you never see me in the political threads section here. Its safer to stay elsewhere.:)

That's true. Gay marriage has made up many pages of debate on the politics board.

Global warming is up there too.

I think its politics closely followed by religion. I'm not really big on debating either...and just try to accept that others can see things differently...and let it go at that.

Especially with all of the nasty comments I've heard with this past election process, I'll go with politics. It's a shame some people have to be so narrow minded

I have learned the hard way to NEVER discuss baseball with a Yankees fan.

I try to avoid political discussions with people if I can help it, especially certain people I know who think they are right and anyone who disagrees is an idiot. I don't discuss religion unless I'm at Church or with someone from church.
