View Full Version : Christmas Went By Too Fast
Wreckless 12-21-2008, 12:01 AM I didn't get a chance to enjoy it as much- that's why I want to enjoy the next 3/4 days, because I know it will be over on Friday morning, everything will go back up within the next week or two, some things within this week Christmas wise and January will be a cold, boring, sad month lol. But really, with school and everything else, Christmas flew by this year. I love the actual season, more then the actual day (I love Christmas day, but the season is so special if you know what I mean) and now it's pretty much gone. I caught some movies but I appreciate everything this time of year and in general, because it's special. Does anybody else feel like it flew by too fast, the Christmas season and the month of December?
It seemed like just yesterday, that we got our Christmas trees at home, put up everything, when in actuality it was around a month ago.
catlover79 12-21-2008, 12:03 AM It seems that every year it flies by faster and faster. :(

I know, I can't believe it. I'm 20 now and I remember all the years I was a kid and enjoyed and loved Christmas.

Yeah, it does go by pretty fast.
And it's like, all the bitching and buying is just for one day.

Not to mention the lousy traffic.
Wreckless 12-21-2008, 12:59 AM Hey, Monika, at least we still have egg nogg! I could go for some right now, along with the eggnog cookies I heard were really good lol.

EmoJoe 12-21-2008, 02:27 AM it went by so fast this year...faster then i ever remember.
Wreckless 12-21-2008, 04:34 AM Here are a few pictures I came across online. Maybe they will help keep us in the Christmas spirit. :)
lol nice. those pics are really funny. I love the cats haha.
I think I'm gonna put my Santa Hat on my cat or two cats and call it a day ;).
ekkostar 12-21-2008, 09:55 AM I'm sort of glad it's getting over with because I'm hoping that 2009 goes just as fast. I'm ready for this decade to be over with, it's been terrible and I don't recall anything good ever coming out of it other than tacky music and terrible television.
Jude The Obscure 12-21-2008, 02:23 PM I agree with ekkostar-it's been a really lousy decade--too many deaths in the family and a friend to the Iraq War. Too many health issues for my family and myself. I need to stop......i'm getting depressed all over again :(
Theda Bara 12-21-2008, 03:04 PM Me neither lol; until another member on these boards mentioned them a few days ago.

Those pictures are precious. Cats are so cute and loveable. I've never understood how people can hate cats.

Those cats are too cute! :)
MrCleveland 12-21-2008, 09:59 PM This Christmas will be the worst Christmas ever for me.
I won't be doing anything but go to church on Christmas Eve and since my Grandma is in the Hospital, I won't be doing an official Christmas with her until probably New Years!
I'm on a Christmas Rebellion! Usually I would wear a suit and tie around Christmas...but this year...I won't!
Sharop 12-22-2008, 12:57 PM it's been terrible and I don't recall anything good ever coming out of it other than tacky music and terrible television.
The TV show Strange Days at Blake Holsey High (known as Black Hole High in the UK) was a product of this decade and in my opinion, it was a great show for teens. It taught them a number of scientific facts as well as being a fun and exciting mystery/drama/comedy/sci-fi show.
Also, we got Arrested Development, which I thought was good.
Jonathan 12-22-2008, 01:46 PM I think Christmas starts too early each year. Therefore it takes away the fun and special meaning of it a bit. I love Christmas though. It's my favorite holiday. :santa:
Chocoholic 12-22-2008, 05:24 PM It did go by fast this year, probably because Thanksgiving was so late.
Of course, there was Christmas stuff in the stores in October and some radio stations were already playing Christmas music 24/7 before Veteran's day
Fleet 12-22-2008, 06:21 PM Yeah, Christmas does go by too fast.
So does Halloween. ;)
Brent88 12-22-2008, 07:05 PM I'm just not in the Christmas mood this year. The last few have been blah but this is the worst. It starts earlier and earlier every year which doesn't help. Overall this year was very boring personally, and I can't wait for January and doing some new things.
catlover79 12-25-2008, 10:22 AM How did it get to be Christmas Day already?? Wasn't yesterday the day after Thanksgiving?

I don't know but it's already here!!

:D
LoveMrsG 12-25-2008, 12:24 PM I lost track of who said what in this thread, but I couldn't agree more with the folks who said that they're ready for this lousy decade to be over with because it's only brought loss and lame music and television. I lost all three of my closest family members this year, my mother in 2001, my grandmother in 2003, and finally my dad in 2007. For me, practically the entire decade of Christmases has stunk. And I also couldn't agree more with everyone who said that stores and radio stations putting up Christmas decorations and playing Christmas music earlier and earlier each year seems to ruin the whole season. It's just become so commercialized and I'm really sick of it. And I loved the comment that somebody was going to rebel against Christmas...I kind of think I will too as a matter of fact! My faith means a lot to me and I don't mean any offense to the good Lord by saying all that I've said...it's not Christ's birthday that I have problem with and want to skip over. It's just that all the true holiday spirit really seems to have left us. For me the season just gets more and more depressing with every passing year, no matter how hard I try to stay in the spirit of it. It's like I said in Brandon's post, that there seems to be so much pressure from the rest of the world to have all these feelings/emotions of joy and happiness this time of year, blah blah blah. It'll be a real relief to me when January comes and everything gets back to normal. I hope I haven't dampered anybody's spirits by saying all that I just did, but that's honestly how I feel.
catlover79 12-26-2008, 09:33 AM ...and it's over already. How does time fly so fast??
Wreckless 12-28-2008, 04:40 PM Christmas was ok. Kinda crappy. Grandfather in hospital. My maternal grandmother stayed with us and our aunt and uncle back and forth, since my grandfather wasn't home for her not to be alone.
Can't believe it's a few days from '09 already.
