This is getting really sad and crazy.
All the time you hear about some child getting murdered; now why do "I" need to know about that? What purpose does it serve? Why does the press print these stories in such violent and graphic detail? If the papers had a ratings system some of these will definitely be for Mature Audiences.
Also, what is also upsetting to me is reading some of the comments that people make whenever these stories hit the news. People say things like "He/She should be hanged!", or We should tear their flesh off and burn them alive!". This is the best solution people can come up with; to treat violence with more violence? Violence is the problem here and treating violence with violence will almost be like putting out a fire with fire. It's sad how society hasn't gotten around to how to deal with people who do violent and psychotic things.
By printing these stories all of the time in the graphic detail that they do; doesn't this let people who are prone to do violence see how they will be glamorized in the press? Where the whole world can see your actions and discuss their 2-cents on it? It seems in our culture today everyone wants some level of fame in their lives and if you kill someone brutally you have a chance of becoming a "house-hold name" where everyone knows who you are and what you have done. Now that's dangerous.
I'm not saying that the press should not print these stories, but with the way that they do it and with the detail that they include; it's almost as if the violence is being glamorized.
The people who are famous for murder, terrorism; are more well known than the people who created the airplane and do science/medical research.
It's crazy.
