In a move that is long overdue, Janice has been promoted to an Administrator. In addition to her regular Chit Chat moderating duties, she will be helping out with a few other administrative tasks. She's basically been
an Admin without the title for the last few years, so we are making it official now. I used to think of an admin primarily as a technical person, but we have admins here who fill different roles.

Janice (or JanLady617 as she was originally known until she changed it - there's Cher, Madonna and Janice) has been a valued and cherished member of the SO community since 2001. In October 2003, Chit Chat was sinking faster than the Titanic. I was ready to close it entirely because of all of the problems. Janice stepped up and volunteered to help right the ship. She is the major reason that Chit Chat is the success and the safe and friendly place to visit that it is today.

Whether she is your friend, a motherly figure to get advice from, a mentor, or just somebody to chit chat with, she has touched many of our lives. She is always there for you willing to lend you her ear or a helping hand. I couldn't ask for any more from a moderator or a friend. She has devoted countless hours to the site while dealing with a lot of crap and pain both on and off the boards. Her dedication to the boards is remarkable. I know the birthday threads are appreciated by many. She has been known to get of bed to post them at midnight. She's always there to say hello and welcome a new member. Amazing, beautiful, caring, dedicated, dependable, determined, fair, forgiving, friendly, funny, generous, hard working, intelligent, kind, loving, nice, strong, sweet and warm are just a few of the words that can be used to describe her. Thank you Janice for all that you do!

I'll admit, I'm a tough person on the outside but I apologize for that. It's ok, I probably deserved what I got. I think what gets me in trouble verbally is when I see or hear something I don't like, and instead of ignoring it most occasions, I try to respond and turns the situation into a problem, so I will refrain as much as possible from doing that and to try to be more respectful to you. Most of us do-
You pretty much have to , to carry on- online - let alone to help run a site.
Being docile and shy, certainly won't get people to fall into line and follow rules- It takes a stubborn streak, and its very hard to balance

When you add the fact that things can get taken out of context, as well as things being "typed" not stated- so you don't see facial expressions, or body language- its really easy to be judged a certain kind of personality type, when how you are in real life, can be vastly different.

I have help opinions about several people online, and then getting to know them, in a different situation, even a different board or set of circumstances, realized how wrong I was about my initial opinions.


Its a tough job moderating, so you have to be a tough lady.
But obviously the "inner janice" peeks through, hence all the support.
