I am not at all familiar with the TV show (Colgate Comedy Hour), although I have heard some radio episodes, thanks to Jack Cullen at CKNW. I am quite familiar with the Who's on first routine, of course.
I had no idea what I was getting into here, but I was quite surprised. There were two episodes, both from 1952, if I'm not mistaken. What surprised me the most was how free Costello was to break down the 4th wall and just let loose. In once scene a plant vase is destroyed by accident and Costello calls for another prop. The song and dance routines were strange.
The presentation also includes the original commercials, which were a hoot! The spokesperson for Colgate toothpaste would later become an anti-porn/anti-Commie propagandist. I felt sorry for that family of Colgate users :D
