I just watched this movie again..
In the beginning of the film you hear Pocahontas (as well as all the other Indians) speaking in perfect English.
Then when Pocahontas finally meets John Smith she speaks in her native tongue and supposedly doesn't understand him speaking in English.
She then understands Smith when she hears that grandmother tree in her head with that "Listen with your heart..." speech, which is kind of funny because the voice in her head is in English.
It doesn't make any sense.
