View Full Version : What was your first impression of this message board?
Penny Lane 12-09-2008, 11:33 AM I thought it would be interesting to hear your first impression of SO. I first logged on in the Spring of 2001. I was new to computers and message boards so it took me a while to get comfortable posting on the internet. Well, I mostly remember being so surprised at how much Nancy McKeon was loved and hated. Nancy seemed to be the main topic discussed in those days. It was really funny sometimes! But other than that I was also surprised at how many members were so young! By reading their posts I thought that they were much older. Anyway, I registered in July 2001 and although lately I haven't had much time to devote to the boards I have really enjoyed these boards! What was your impressions?
dakert 12-09-2008, 11:57 AM I came here from the TVLand boards and this is a nice place
ekkostar 12-09-2008, 12:04 PM I came here probably looking for Wings or some other TV show and I never really liked official message boards because even back then they were pretty bad (Anyone remember Sci-Fi Channel's Dominion?). All the subsections used to be active but over the past few years the activity has gone down quite a bit. Except for a choice few flavor-of-the-moment show boards and the miscellanious boards, SO has been dead for some time.
Cactus Jack 12-09-2008, 03:38 PM I found it in 2001, and at first I only posted on the HD biard ( which was also why I regisetred, I NEVER thought Id post in other sections), then I found this board, thought everyone was crazy, which we all; were back! then, and then not everyone was crazy and I stayed the same! HAHAHAHAH
Doodyville10019 12-09-2008, 05:01 PM I found this place purely by accident - was looking for something else. I saw my first thread and wanted to respond, so I signed up and responded. I really liked the board when I first came here, and I LOVE this board even more now! I'm hooked!
gidgetgrape 12-09-2008, 05:35 PM Probably "Oh my gawd, someone else remembers The Donna Reed Show!"
Waterston_Fan 12-09-2008, 05:54 PM When I first signed up I responded to a post on 'The Brady Bunch' and that was in 2005.
Then I stopped posting for awhile on some boards because it was just really slow and not many posts from like the Beaver board, Brady Bunch, Law & Order and Happy Days.
Just recently I checked out the politics, sports and chit chat categories and I like it.
I do go to TVLand messageboard too.
browneyes106 12-09-2008, 06:12 PM I stumbled onto this board back in April after doing a search for Unsolved Mysteries. I like the UM boards and I thought site is a cool because different shows are covered.
catlover79 12-09-2008, 07:13 PM I was doing a search on Barney Miller and just stumbled upon the boards. I'm so glad I did. :D
JulieSomoski 12-09-2008, 07:27 PM My first impression was that it was big, very big. I stumbled across it after a google search one day, and I didn't know where to begin!
But, it doesn't seem so big anymore :D
MickeyMac 12-10-2008, 06:54 PM I was overwhelmed at first because so many people here have well over 1,000 posts. However I was glad to see there are other fans of classic and pop culture like myself.
Incidentally I was looking for some info on 1960's TV shows(a forum in particular) and lo and behold I found this joint, I'm glad I did.
When I first came across it, I thought wow what a variety of shows this board has. I knew I would never get bored with it since there's so much to do here.
Family Ties Forever! 12-11-2008, 01:36 AM In April 2002 I registered here at SO. I remember thinking the site was big. I didn't venture beyond the Family Ties board for awhile. I was doing a search on Family Ties and one of the results was sitcomsonline.
Sharop 12-12-2008, 01:52 PM I first came upon this place in December 2004. I think my first reaction was to be impressed with the number of shows the website encompassed; it seemed (and still seems) to have a forum for just about everything.
catlover79 12-12-2008, 01:55 PM I first came upon this place in December 2004. I think my first reaction was to be impressed with the number of shows the website encompassed; it seemed (and still seems) to have a forum for just about everything.
Yes, you can talk about anything under the sun here.
Nighthawk76 12-12-2008, 05:54 PM I don't actually remember my first impression. I'm sure it was a positive one though. :)
