A friend of mine on warned me that she got her Myspace hacked and possibly
over 50 photos stolen. I deleted my account just this week.
Did this every occur to anyone on here? I'm going to take the
time to call family and friends and tell them to be extremely cautious
when posting photos,I never did. But,I know they all did.

what do you mean "stolen"? were they posted elsewhere without credit given or something? and unless the profile or specific photo album was set to private, saving (or "stealing") pictures doesn't require hacking.
eh...i'm confused.

That's true. Once the pictures are posted for all to see, anyone can save them. People don't realize that their account may be set to private, but their relatives and friends could be posting their pictures all over their myspace and other places.

I know this is a totally serious topic, but, Happy Face, do you realize that you have a sad face icon, but your name is Happy Face?

Nobody hacked anyone's account - there's no need to. Anytime you post a pic with unrestricted access to it on either MySpace or Facebook, anyone can just click on the pic and copy it.

Your friend must have had their account open for anyone to look at their profile and other pictures. Ignorance is not an excuse on the net.

Has somebody been Photochopping them or something? That's another thing they can do with them once they have them.

I only allow friends to see my photos. If any of them start showing up anywhere else they're the people I'm going to track down and blame.

even if your profile is set to private, or if your photbucket is private it is still relatively easy to get into without any actual "hacking"

basically, if you put photos online there is always the possibility that they will become public, so think of this before you upload them.

I knew someone who was passing herself online as a young knockout, until her adult kids put her real pics on myspace. It was SO funny. Talk about busted. She wasn't a bad looking lady, but she was older and overweight and not the hot number in the pics she was posting. Funniest thing ever.

This has not happened to me yet. There is a function you can choose which does not allow others to view the photos. I have mine set where no one can copy the photos, and only my friends can see my photos.

That's actually kind of sad when you think of it. That person must have a very low self esteem to pretend they're someone else. Especially when you're not all that bad looking in the first place. And what happens if the REAL person in the photos discovers it! LOL

Agreed, besides those fake pics could've been "hacked" as well. LOL

Why thank you Janice! I also love your avatar as well, Salsoul Christmas is an album I grew up on during this time of year. It is a great Disco Christmas album.

i got yelled at for stealing my best friend's wedding picture from his wife's myspace and photoshopping mood-ruining things into the background and uploading it as my default picture. she kept telling me how i stole "copyrighted" photos from her, lmao. it's not like anyone would have assumed that the picture belonged to anyone but her to begin with. she apparently set the wedding album to private after that. no fun. :(

oh and yeah, i didn't hack into her account. right click + "save picture as..." = win.

ROFL I've been wanting to do that with the skank that's been seeing my ex. She put one photo up and I was going to copy it and then by the time I got to it, she had taken it down from her profile and set it to private again. So I just have to keep checking, be patient and WAIT! Ha!

Unless of course, robyrob there could shed some light as to how to get in to the private bucket without having to hack. ;) (hint, hint)!

I wouldn't post them publicly, but there's a couple of people I'd like to send them to and have a bit of fun with. (geez I'm bad!)

Oh, but weren't they pictures of a "relative"? The daughter is going on and on, "And here's my mother and her boyfriend, "John Doe"....", on and on with specific details which proved it was the person with the fake identity. The busted person starts accusing people of hacking into her computer accounts, looking for illegal wrongdoing. Sorry, it's not that exciting. Tell your kids to stop posting family pictures on the internet. Can't get mad at someone for looking at myspace pics. That's what they're there for in the first place.

That's true if you have your profile set to private and your photos set to private for only your friends can view them, not called hacking. If someone did hack there account they should email myspace and let them know.
