Were or are they are tradition in your home? I hang the stockings for me and my husband, as I have for the past 25 years, since our first Christmas together in 1983. I enjoy thinking of stocking stuffers. Lottery tickets, a wallet, bookmark, cologne, coupons for McDonalds, Dunkin' Donuts, haircuts, personalized items, such as a pen, mug, anything I can fit into it, until it's almost bursting at the seams. I've put gifts for him in my own stocking, lol.

We had a stocking for our late cat, Foxy. Instead of putting it away, we decided to honor his memory at Christmas by hanging his stocking with our stockings, as we did for the 17 Christmases that he shared with us. I fill them with toys and treats for our newer furbabies, Lily and Caesar. That feels right.

I haven't put up a stocking in along time. I just happened to find my old one a few days ago. It's a Dallas Cowboys Christmas stocking. When I was a kid we'd all put the stockings up. We even had stockings for the dogs and we'd buy them toys and candy and dog chews...they liked them.

My sister and I got these knitted stockings when we were very little kids - mine is red with a snowman on it and says "Monika 1979". My sister's is green with a Santa face on it and says "Vicky 1982". I don't remember who gave them to us or which year we got them, but we've had them as long as I can remember. :D

Yes stockings are a tradition in our house. We even have extra ones we bought for my brother and family. They had Christmas with us last year. We have two new stockings for Cuddles and Romeo. :) I'm not sure what we will do with CHava's. It will be our first Christmas without him. :(

when I was growing up in the 60s, we'd put up one for each family member and put gifts in them. Now however, we just put them up as decorations.
