UM will be back......REALLY!

As many of you know, Spike TV is running CSI in many time slots during the day. However, we have been told that UM will be back on Spike in full force, beginning in early January.

Why has the schedule been so unpredictable? Spike programmers weigh many factors when planning their TV line-up, and their decisions often reflect realities that are unknown to us at Unsolved Mysteries. For that reason, while we believe that broadcasts of UM will resume in January, we can't be sure until the time comes. Of course, we will update you as soon as we know more.

Meanwhile, let's recite our favorite cautionary note...

Hopefully they just pull the plug on the whole damn thing. I finally got around to watching some of the new UM segments and they suck big time.

How long has CSI-NY been on Spike, are they just letting the show play itself out to make room for Unsolved Mysteries since their showing it as a marathon?

Why do they have to do these "marathons"? I don't have time to sit there and watch 6 hours of tv at once. They need to break it up. CSI AND UM.

I don't think it is considered a marathon if they play 10 hrs. of CSI everyday for 3 months straight, I think they should rename the network CSI tv, television for people who can't handle real life mystery shows. Its pretty bummer and it really makes no sense that they keep pulling it from the schedule...But, guess what spike, UM was a hit show for almost 20 yrs, obviously there's promise there, so FIGURE IT OUT. Try different time slots, or....try ADVERTISING. OR>...... This is a big if.....TRY ACTUALLY AIRING THE SHOW. One of those is bound to work

I know! 3 months of CSI? Really? I loved coming home to my Unsolved Mysteries, even though it still after all these years scares me and I miss Robert Stack. The fact of the matter is it brings back memories of college when it was on Lifetime, all of us getting our lunches and watching it between classes. You are right, they need to work out advertising...and actually airing it. Switching it up confuses people and then they give up. We need a petition or something is there one out there?

Yes. This. Didn't Lifetime's showings of UM around noon-ish always do well? It always felt weird to be watching UM at lunchtime, but I guess it was also a good lead-in to those horrible Lifetime movies I love so much. :P

A prime-time slot, around 8 or 9, would be cool, too, even if were one or two nights a week.

Yes, it was on 12-2 everyday on Lifetime. :) 8 or 9 would be perfect, thats a great time to watch a show like UM> THIRTEEN HOURS OF CSI?!?!?! WTH?

Well, if Spike paid a million bucks an episode for CSI, I imagine they feel like they better get their money's worth. Or something.

I have seen CSI ONCE and that was under duress (at my mom's house). I have two degrees in criminal justice and have friends who actually, you know, WORK in criminalistics and the shoddy science and procedures on that show got to me.

But I used to LOVE seeing UM on at lunchtime. I'd come home for work almost every day just to catch it.

I dunno. We criminal defense lawyer types LOVE the "CSI effect" that she show has had on the expectations of juries... :)

I read a few interesting papers on it not too long ago. Definitely an area to watch for these days -- despite what the show have people think, there's not always the ability to do what the stars seem to be able to effortlessly pull off before a commercial break!


The university I work for has a forensic chemistry program and recently expanded it dramatically since they have a lot of new students interested in the field. I wonder how many of 'em will be disappointed down the road.
