Actor Noah Wyle's return to E.R. was an emotional one - but he's glad he made the choice to come back for the TV medical drama's final run.

Wyle has just started shooting his return as Dr. John Carter and he admits there have been tears and hugs.

He says, "It's like going to your closet and finding your favorite pair of jeans from high school and thinking, 'That's never gonna fit me,' and you put it one and you go, 'Woo-hoo, hey, that looks pretty good.' It's remarkably comfortable."

"It's like going to a high school reunion; a family reunion. It's very rich, lots of emotions."

E.R. will end after 15 years in 2009.

Nice he respects that show that gave him his break to return for the final season.

John Carter was the perfect student/intern during the first four years on ER - wide-eyed at times, funny and idealistic. Then they brought on Kelly Martin in Season 5 as his "pupil" and the student became the master. But whereas Anthony Edwards and Eric LaSalle's characters could be stern and even deplorable at times yet you still liked their characters, John Carter became increasingly insufferable and pompous. A large part of the blame was the writing, which got progressively worse after Season 4 but Wyle himself lost almost all of the charm he had in those early seasons.
