View Full Version : Debi Whitlock
crystaldawn 12-03-2008, 05:06 PM Could this be may be another one of the "lost" UM segments? I was just watching the show "Relentless" on the Sleuth channel. It profiled Jacque MacDonald's 9 year fight to find who murdered her daughter Debi Whitlock. Jacque truly was "relentless" in keeping the story out in the media and they mentioned how she contacted UM many, many times to get them to air the story. They said AMW profiled the story and then UM also aired it. Has anyone seen this segment?
Here's a link to an article about the case. Below is a quote from that article concerning the story being on UM:

It took four years of phoning, but she convinced TV's. America's Most Wanted to do a segment in 1992 and two years later hooked Unsolved Mysteries. "I called the researcher so many times, I felt like we were going steady," says MacDonald. Unsolved Mysteries field producer Michael Palazzolo says of the persistent mom, "She really stood out in a positive way." MacDonald also launched a twice-monthly, 30-minute local TV show on KBSV, Victim's Voice, which airs the griefs and concerns of crime victims and their families. She ends each Sunday evening program by saying, "May you never walk in our footsteps."
synthisislab 12-03-2008, 06:09 PM Interesting. So how many lost segments are there, Heather?

I'm not sure of the exact number. I would say there are a handful of segments that no one on the board has been able to locate. There are several others that never aired on Lifetime but have been located. Here is a thread wiseguy started that lists many of them:

iliekcheezomg 12-04-2008, 04:24 PM Looks like a book has been written about this case:

The case was solved, so perhaps that's why we've never seen this one? Too bad, it sounds interesting.
hairball 03-06-2010, 01:36 PM I just found the thread and I'm vary interested in the Deborah Whitlock case as I was once involved. Anyway I'm sure unsolved mysteries aired something about it around january 1990. If anyone has any info about this case or where I could find any episodes of UM or americas most wanted, I would love to see them.
Thanks
wiseguy182 03-07-2010, 03:31 AM thanks for posting hairball.
wow, so another source stating UM aired Debi Whitlock. It definitely appears that this case made it to UM.
I'll have to update my 'never aired on Lifetime' list when I get around to it.
hairball 03-08-2010, 09:29 PM Thank You Wiseguy182. I have searched for the video that aired but so far have been unsuccessful. I was hoping that this thread might lead me to it. Hoping some UM buff might have recorded this epasode? This case has been on my mind for 20 years now and I would be greatful for any information. I never knew Debi or her family but was vary glad they cought her killer and he is now doing time in a california prison. I did get a lot of information from the Medesto Bee the local paper where Debi lived. Her mothers diligence in finding Debi's killer is probably what finaly solved this case. And I'm sure her mother is still fighting for victims rights.

I did see it mentioned on another program that this case was featured on UM but honestly I have never seen it on there and haven't heard of anyone else out there who has. Does anyone remembering seeing this segment on UM?

I was hopeing someone would have some information for me. I dont know where else to look.
TheCars1986 04-01-2014, 07:21 PM I do not think this case was ever featured on UM. But if it was, it may have been a part of a "Special Alert" about similar homicides that police were seeking information on.
unsolved243 08-30-2017, 07:57 PM I think I found the "segment" about Debi's case. However, it seems that she was only briefly mentioned as a part of psychic James Van Praagh's segment. Her mother, Jacque, was invited by Unsolved Mysteries as part of his live session that was filmed. Her murder was only mentioned for a few seconds, where Praagh "described" the night of her murder and what happened to her. Strangely, they didn't even mention that her case was unsolved at the time.

I recall seeing a segment about Debi Whitlock's murder on Dateline not long after the case was solved. I vividly remember that it was briefly mentioned on the show that Debi's mother appeared on UM, but I couldn't remember the segment. So, based on what you said, Dateline was correct when they mentioned that Jacque was on UM; there was just never an UM segment specifically about the Debi Whitlock case.
