NEW YORK – Patrick Swayze is angry about tabloid reports that say he doesn't have long to live.
The actor, who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer earlier this year, issued a statement Tuesday affirming that so far he is winning his fight against the disease and responding well to treatment.
Says Swayze: "They're reporting that I'm on my last legs and saying goodbye to my tearful family! ... It's upsetting that the shoddy and reckless reporting from these publications cast a negative shadow on the positive and good fight I'm fighting."
Swayze, who stars in the upcoming A&E series "The Beast," says such coverage is tantamount to "emotional cruelty," and angers him "when hope is so precious."
I hope it's just the tabloids. I still hold out hope for him.

the tabloids will say whatever they think will sell the most papers - regardless of the facts, annd i think its deplorable that they are taking advantage of his personal misfortune like this.

Those reports that Patrick Swayze's health is failing? Consider them false. In a statement to ABC News, the "Dirty Dancing" actor, currently working on the new A&E series "The Beast," said he's waging his almost-year-long battle with pancreatic cancer and plans to win.
"I'm very proud of the work I've done on my new series 'The Beast,' and I am happy to be back home for the holidays."
In his first television interview since being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer earlier this year, Swayze and his wife Lisa Niemi will speak exclusively to Barbara Walters. The interview is scheduled to take place at his California ranch and will air in January.
In the statement, Swayze said, "It's a great feeling of accomplishment to say you're gonna do something and do it."

Wow, and I bought into it. I'm glad to hear he's actually doing better than they made it out to be. It's a shame they distorted things like that.

making money off of someone's chance of dying soon, even if he's currently doing well, is not cool.

the tabloids shouldn't even be reporting on patrick & his cancer. that's just too low, even for them.

charles i love your avatar!
i'm definately NOT a believer of tabloids but this is eerily similar to what happned with michael landon. he got very upset also about what they were printing and made a point of going on national tv on the tonight show to prove he was in good health then died maybe a week later.
of course i hope this is not the case with patrick and i agree that these tabloids are wreckless and insensitive with their reporting and thats why i've stopped reading them all together.
