I usually go about once a week during the weekend; there is a great place near where I live.

I'm a vanilla person so I usually get the vanilla hookah whenever I go; or sometimes rose. I also enjoy their herbal teas and playing chess/checkers with the other patrons; most of them Middle-Eastern.

If you haven't been to one you should go sometime... though the smell can get to you after a while.

i've tried hookah once, a couple of years ago. i didn't really enjoy it and i kept coughing the entire time afterwards. but they do have great food at hookah cafes.

I went to one during my trip to Turkey this year with my friend from Istanbul, Fatih. It was an unsual experience, and although I only took a few puffs from the pipe, it really completed my trip to Turkey as it was my last night there. The cafe was very large and there were several hundred people, mostly men of course, smoking, and the scent from all the pipes was indeed quite intense!

I have never been to one.. But I do have a hookah.. I like the vanilla and strawberry flavored tobacco.

A hookah (photo above) is a type of smoking pipe. It operates on water filtration and hot coals. Me being 5"10 some of the hookahs are almost as big as I am.

A Hookah cafe is a type of establishment where they provide you with hookahs to smoke. The one I go to charges $15.00 for one. They have a menu, like in any other restaurant, which shows you what tobacco flavors they have and you choose what you want.

Most of the hookah cafes come with full kitchens, recreational games (such as chess, checkers, darts...), and a bar. Most of the time the bars in hookah cafes are non-alcoholic as most of them are operated by Muslims.

Hookahs are popular among the Middle-East. NYC and New Jersey have a few of these places.
