View Full Version : Most Realistic Sitcom? JRDM 12-01-2008, 06:13 PM I say One Day at a Time. ryan423 12-01-2008, 08:01 PM 8 Simple Rules was very realistic. Probably more than any other sitcom I know. dakert 12-01-2008, 11:24 PM Leave It To Beaver was Very Realistic. I identified very much with the Beaver DSfan 12-01-2008, 11:51 PM Seinfeld for the most part... catlover79 12-02-2008, 12:00 AM Roseanne Good Times Yooch 12-02-2008, 12:03 AM I thought The Wonder Years and Boy Meets World were pretty realistic. phoebe7165 12-02-2008, 12:16 AM Roseanne Tubehead 12-02-2008, 01:27 AM Family ties the hooneymooners the jerffersons the wonderyears step by step boy meets world Heather987 12-02-2008, 02:05 AM Maude Roseanne globalspot28 12-02-2008, 02:18 AM I would say Roseanne (until they won the lottery, then it got dumb). catlover79 12-02-2008, 02:19 AM I would say Roseanne (until they won the lottery, then it got dumb). It was more than dumb - it was downright painful!! jimpickens 12-02-2008, 05:58 AM All In The Family Married With Children Sanford & Son James 12-02-2008, 01:57 PM I'd say The Brady Bunch, followed by The Wonder Years. sunshinefizzy 12-02-2008, 04:37 PM Roseanne, All in the Family, Seinfeld (give or take a certain situation), and Everybody loves Raymond. Chocolate Moose 12-02-2008, 05:31 PM Still Standing - well, some of it anyway That 70's show - ditto Raymond for sure !!! That's why they were big hits, right? The really funny stuff can't be made up ! DSfan 12-02-2008, 11:54 PM I forgot to mention Wonder Years -- that was probably the most realistic show ever. Whoever mentioned Boy Meets World as being realistic, I'm sorry but I completely disagree. I love the show but a lot of it is based on stereotypes (like the bullies and Mr. Turner and things to that effect) and the later seasons were extremely unrealstic, not to mention the going back to 1958 episode, the one where Cory goes to the 1920s, the war episode where he loses his memory... Overdose 12-03-2008, 01:07 AM "Roseanne", aside from the last season. Not only was it the most realistic show, but the best one ever created, IMO. Other shows I felt were realistic were "All In The Family" & "The Wonder Years". janet42 12-03-2008, 01:46 AM All In The Family, Roseanne (especially the 1st season), and One Day At A Time. comedyfreak 12-03-2008, 09:45 AM All In The Family Good Times Roseanne Lorimar Television 12-04-2008, 04:43 PM Reba deffinitly. It was the most cever sitcom ever created without being unrealistic. megamanj2004 12-05-2008, 04:11 PM Barney Miller Wonder Years, The Roseanne - though I'm starting to warm up to this sitcom now does come off a realistic in some aspects All in the Family Maude Good Times repeatshistory 12-06-2008, 03:56 AM SportsNight M*A*S*H at least at first I would agree with The Wonder Years Freaks & Geeks Undeclared catlover79 12-12-2008, 11:59 AM Everybody Loves Raymond - lots of situations that family went through are very relatable. browneyes106 04-11-2009, 03:00 PM Roseanne 8 Simple Rules Everybody Loves Raymond Still Standing Reba Yes, Dear Retro4Life 04-11-2009, 05:35 PM "All in the Family", "Barney Miller", "Roseanne (sans horrendous final season)", "Leave it to Beaver". Furienna 04-20-2009, 06:57 AM My first thought was "Roseanne" too. I also have to say, that the first seasons of "Family Matters" were realistic. "The Cosby show" and "Sister, sister" were rather realistic sitcoms too. McGillicuddy 04-20-2009, 10:58 AM Most of Norman Lear's shows, All in the Family, Maude, One Day, Sanford & Son, Good Times. McGillicuddy 04-20-2009, 11:02 AM All In The Family Married With Children Sanford & Son Married With Children??!! Classicshowsgurl15 04-21-2009, 01:41 AM I think that The Wonder Years is probably the most realistic show i've seen. Home Improvement is pretty realistic too. TV-aholic 04-21-2009, 09:29 AM Roseanne Roseanne started out "realistic, but by the 4th or 5th season it lost that feel. TV-aholic 04-21-2009, 09:33 AM Freaks & Geeks - Definitely! SportsNight M*A*S*H at least at first I would agree with The Wonder Years Freaks & Geeks Undeclared Raisingdad2004 04-21-2009, 10:12 AM The Wonder Years definitely. Roseanne, until the last year. Everybody Loves Raymond & King of Queens, excepting the question of whether those women would really be with those guys, were quite realistic. Quite a few of the stories and jokes on those shows don't just make me laugh but also make me think 'that happens' or 'that is so true'. tanquant 04-21-2009, 04:06 PM Mama's Family The Bernie Mac Show The King of Queens Little House on the Prairie Wreckless 04-21-2009, 04:15 PM most realistic, in the sense that..... be more specific please and I'll be happy to answer the question.. Wreckless 04-21-2009, 04:17 PM That 70's show - ditto I love that show, and '70s Show is one of my favorites definitely, but I think after the first season, and the first few episodes really, it was just following the plots and the cast...wasn't like the 70s, but I'll say it was real realistic so i agree with you in the overall sense I get it now...I say The Wonder Years was the best example of this, and is the most realistic show.... followed by That '70s Show then The Brady Bunch... jimpickens 04-21-2009, 05:52 PM Married With Children??!! As far as looking like a lower family run down house beat up old car it was realistic but other than that it hadn't been realistic since season two. JamesG 04-22-2009, 10:58 PM I noticed a couple of people here mentioned The Brady Bunch? Can someone please explain why they think The Brady Bunch is realistic? steevo 04-22-2009, 11:49 PM Roseanne - It was realistic in that it portrayed working class families and their struggles (well, until the last season anyway  ) Everybody Loves Raymond - I thought it was down to earth in its approach. Lee 04-23-2009, 12:18 AM All In The Family Marvo301 04-23-2009, 12:23 AM The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet. The four main actors were playing themselves. It doesn't get much more real than that. McGillicuddy 04-23-2009, 12:26 AM Gilligan's Island Mary Hartman Alf TV_on_the_Porch 04-23-2009, 12:34 AM Gilligan's Island Mary Hartman Alf Your keen perception is beautiful to behold! I second your choices and add The Flying Nun, My Favorite Martian and, um, Benson. Dusty's Fan 04-23-2009, 07:13 AM Father Knows Best Make Room for Daddy The Donna Reed Show Hazel My Three Sons and Family Affair all were fairly realistic, I think...At least most of the time... Nighthawk76 04-24-2009, 11:53 PM All in the Family One Day At A Time Square Pegs Tubehead 04-27-2009, 08:06 AM if i had to pick one then it would be family ties. family ties had losts of Serious epsidoes like when marrloy friend was pragenet. when alex takes diet pill to stay up late. IT ALSO HAD funny epsidoe were his parnets hit his teacher. oit also had their granpapa coming steve couldn't get alone. then he toldsteve hes dying.were their uncle ted steals money from company. their one were uncle ted gets drunk and hits alex. I remember that ep. where Tom Hanks guest-starred as their Uncle who got really depressed and got drunk to the point that he hit Alex. The uncle is actually Ned, though. And yes, Family Ties did present some realistic moments on the show. Another moment was when Alex was praying on one ep. about a friend of his that died. I'll also add - The Hogan Family mostly during the 1st 2 seasons when it was Valerie. Notably, the infamous "condom" episode, which marked the 1st time in TV history that the word "condom" was ever uttered on national TV and b/c of that, they had to use a disclaimer before the start of the show. Also, Good Times had a great number of serious eps. Torgo 04-30-2009, 04:43 PM Little House on the Prairie This is a sitcom? Torgo 04-30-2009, 05:06 PM Happy Days- But only the first couple of seasons- before it was shot in front of a live-studio audience, and before Fonzie gained 'super powers'.
