8 Simple Rules was very realistic. Probably more than any other sitcom I know.

Still Standing - well, some of it anyway
That 70's show - ditto
Raymond for sure !!!

That's why they were big hits, right? The really funny stuff can't be made up !

I forgot to mention Wonder Years -- that was probably the most realistic show ever.

Whoever mentioned Boy Meets World as being realistic, I'm sorry but I completely disagree. I love the show but a lot of it is based on stereotypes (like the bullies and Mr. Turner and things to that effect) and the later seasons were extremely unrealstic, not to mention the going back to 1958 episode, the one where Cory goes to the 1920s, the war episode where he loses his memory...

"Roseanne", aside from the last season.
Not only was it the most realistic show, but the best one ever created, IMO.

Other shows I felt were realistic were "All In The Family" & "The Wonder Years".

My first thought was "Roseanne" too. I also have to say, that the first seasons of "Family Matters" were realistic. "The Cosby show" and "Sister, sister" were rather realistic sitcoms too.

Home Improvement is pretty realistic too.

Roseanne started out "realistic, but by the 4th or 5th season it lost that feel.

The Wonder Years definitely. Roseanne, until the last year.

Everybody Loves Raymond & King of Queens, excepting the question of whether those women would really be with those guys, were quite realistic. Quite a few of the stories and jokes on those shows don't just make me laugh but also make me think 'that happens' or 'that is so true'.

That 70's show - ditto

I love that show, and '70s Show is one of my favorites definitely, but I think after the first season, and the first few episodes really, it was just following the plots and the cast...wasn't like the 70s, but I'll say it was real realistic so i agree with you in the overall sense

I get it now...I say The Wonder Years was the best example of this, and is the most realistic show....

followed by That '70s Show then The Brady Bunch...

Married With Children??!!
As far as looking like a lower family run down house beat up old car it was realistic but other than that it hadn't been realistic since season two.

I noticed a couple of people here mentioned The Brady Bunch?

Can someone please explain why they think The Brady Bunch is realistic?

Roseanne - It was realistic in that it portrayed working class families and their struggles (well, until the last season anyway  )

Everybody Loves Raymond - I thought it was down to earth in its approach.

The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet. The four main actors were playing themselves. It doesn't get much more real than that.

I remember that ep. where Tom Hanks guest-starred as their Uncle who got really depressed and got drunk to the point that he hit Alex.

The uncle is actually Ned, though.

And yes, Family Ties did present some realistic moments on the show.

Another moment was when Alex was praying on one ep. about a friend of his that died.

I'll also add - The Hogan Family mostly during the 1st 2 seasons when it was Valerie. Notably, the infamous "condom" episode, which marked the 1st time in TV history that the word "condom" was ever uttered on national TV and b/c of that, they had to use a disclaimer before the start of the show.

Also, Good Times had a great number of serious eps.
