tvparadise 11-26-2008, 01:59 PM Glad to see Green Acres and The Brady Bunch back (in pretty good dosages too)....but why not All in The Family too TV Land? Does that show do really bad these days or something?
I'd love to see back-to-back All in The Family at 9/9:30am before the back-to-back episodes of The Jeffersons and Good Times and shift Sanford and Son to 12/12:30pm, with The Beverly Hillbillies following at 1/1:30pm like they've got it and Extreme Makeover moved to overnights/weekends (or gone all together).
Finally....it is really sad to see paid programming on the schedule. I'd rather see any show air during those hours that this. Better enjoy the back-to-back Night Court episodes over the next month...who knows when it will be back???
Scoobiedoo30 11-26-2008, 02:59 PM It is so good to see The Brady Bunch and Green Acres back on TV Land Schedule.
MikeLutton 11-26-2008, 06:34 PM damm i want my night court back hate tv land for this
Scoobiedoo30 11-26-2008, 06:44 PM Night Court will be back
JulieSomoski 11-26-2008, 08:42 PM I just don't understand the reasoning over at TV Land. Why must they start of the year on a negative note? The departure of I Love Lucy should open up a huge hole in the schedule, and what do they fill it with? Nothing of variety. More back-to-backs, but less shows.
Why did they take off Night Court in the mornings? They're going to air it back to back in December, then remove it altogether in January? It doesn't make sense. And Brady Bunch is getting a marathon? It's gotten shafted on the schedule since it premiered, and now its back with a marathon and weekend blocks?
They obviously love Cosby - just look at how much its airing this month. It's really all over the schedule. And paid programming is back - unfortunately, I really believe this is the beginning of the end for TV Land.
dakert 11-26-2008, 11:20 PM TVLand reminds me of the Shell Game, Where is the ball hidden now!
TVLands new motto: If you cant dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with BS.
Just as I expected, Hillbillies pretty much replaced Lucy. This schedule really is horrible. They seem to be relying on a few shows to keep a 24-hour network afloat. Why so many doubles and blocks and marathons?
PrettyinPink55 11-27-2008, 02:31 PM I'm glad The Brady Bunch is back at least!! :) But I hate that I Love Lucy is leaving. :(
I see Three's Company still has an a.m. slot?
I'm actually happy to see Cosby on TV Land!! :)
What about All in the Family and The Jeffersons?

Pavan 12-12-2008, 01:29 PM This is NOT happening anymore starting Dec. 29:
4:00am Designing Women (replaces Murphy Brown)
4:30am Mad About You (replaces Just Shoot Me)
5:00am Murphy Brown (replaces Paid Programming)
5:30am Just Shoot Me (replaces Paid Programming
Instead we will get:
4:00am Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (replaces Murphy Brown, Just Shoot Me)
5:00am M*A*S*H (replaces Paid Programming)
5:30am M*A*S*H (replaces Paid Programming)
Notes: Designing Women, Mad About You, Murphy Brown and Just Shoot Me! will now be off the regular line-up. EM: HE at 4am is in addition to its 12pm slot.
JulieSomoski 12-12-2008, 09:19 PM Wow - TV Land is now looking to be one of the worst networks of the new year unfortunately. They just got rid of the best block of sitcoms they had, for even more unfortunately EM:HE and MASH.
TKMetal 12-14-2008, 07:30 AM TV Land just gets worse. They must really be tightening the belt or paying hard for the continued blunders.
bliggenstrauff 12-15-2008, 02:29 PM Tvland stinks. What would it hurt them to leave them late at night? Noone watches at that time anyway. They should leave them on and let us tape them at least
TKMetal 12-15-2008, 10:06 PM Certainly no one is going to be watching EM:HA at 4AM, why not air a couple sitcoms instead? So stupid.
TKMetal 12-15-2008, 10:07 PM Certainly no one is going to be watching EM:HE at 4AM, why not air a couple of the lower rated sitcoms instead? Do they think they need a good lead in for Infomercials .
Scoobiedoo30 12-15-2008, 10:44 PM you are right no one is going to be up to watch EM:HE at 3:00 am CT Time
jehobden 12-18-2008, 04:51 PM ...
Finally....it is really sad to see paid programming on the schedule. I'd rather see any show air during those hours that this. Better enjoy the back-to-back Night Court episodes over the next month...who knows when it will be back???
Does anyone remember when TV Land used to attack infomercials on other networks w/ "Who wants to buy a home gym at 3 in the morning?"? It may have been on 10 yrs ago, but someone should remind TV Land of that promo.
ekkostar 12-19-2008, 08:03 AM Sucks that Night Court is gone, but it will make me appreciate it when it comes back seeing as I don't watch my tapes much anymore because they're wearing out. Maybe the hiatus is so people will actually get off their butts and buy the DVD in February to show WB we actually want more seasons on disc.
Pavan 12-19-2008, 03:08 PM A few more minor changes coming in January:
http://www.sitcomsonline.com/blog/2008/12/tv-land-brings-back-all-in-family-other.html
Scoobiedoo30 12-19-2008, 03:15 PM Welcome Back All in The Family to The TV Land Schedule.
tvparadise 12-20-2008, 08:03 PM Glad "All in The Family" is back, but I'm not happy about the doubling of "Hogan's Heroes" in place of "Leave it to Beaver". I wonder if Beaver will be renewed come May?
TVLandTheLink on tvland.com is now reporting that the contracts for "Night Court", "Designing Women", "Mad About You", and "Murphy Brown" will all be terminated after 12/31/08 and will be leaving the TV Land line-up. Seems kind of weird, I don't remember a time when contracts were ended early except when they swapped "227" and "Benson" for "The Munsters" and "The Addams Family" (which wasn't really a "termination", but an "exchange".)
Pavan 12-20-2008, 11:39 PM Interesting b&tcfan. It seems that is true. Only Just Shoot Me will be kept, but it won't air regularly.
dakert 12-21-2008, 12:29 AM TVLand is quite ridicoulous

Those shows were swapped between networks, shifted around, pulled and added, time after time...not a big loss. It just frees the contracts up for someone maybe more decent to pick them up. They were never stable on TVL, which seems to be what they are looking for (stability...but they can't seem to get it).

I disagree. I've always enjoyed watching Night Court since TV Land put it back on the schedule, and Murphy Brown and Mad About You whenever I could. It seems like TV Land is giving up with these shows, and it shows that TV Land is nothing but a network that wants to make money. They care nothing for their fans or their viewers - all they're worried about is making a profit.
Pavan 12-22-2008, 03:31 PM Out of those shows, Night Court was the only one that did decently. It lasted between 11pm-1am for 6 or so months. I guess Warner Bros. (Night Court/Murphy Brown) and Sony (Designing Women/Mad About You) agreed to buy those shows out from TV Land. Murphy, Designing and Mad were designed for Nick at Nite and totally bombed, and didn't do well on TV Land either.

I just never liked how these shows seemed to come and go and in different slots...why can't they just keep them on in a steady slot??
One positive way fans can look at this is these shows will be made available to maybe another network that will treat them better.
This has me wondering what they will do with the shows coming like The Nanny, etc. I think the Nanny will bomb, given the history of similar shows (MAY, Murphy Brown, etc)...because it wasn't intended for TV Land either.
IMO, Beaver will be gone in May.

The shuffling TV Land did with these shows is the only reason they're being terminated. With a little more exposure, they probably would have gotten better ratings than they did. Airings shows at 3am doesn't make sense to me - no wonder MAY and MB got low ratings.
I worry about The Nanny as well - if TV Land tries to make it a hit, then it will probably do decently. But if they stick it at midnight with no advertising, then it will bomb. And isn't Roseanne supposed to be coming as well? I'm sure that will do fine, and it'll go great with Cosby.
ekkostar 12-23-2008, 10:07 AM I can now confirm that Night Court is going to be completely gone from TV Land. I have Dan Fielding's profile from the Night Court page as the default home page in Internet Explorer and it came up as a 404 with a photo of Lucy on the site this morning.
Pavan 12-23-2008, 12:20 PM The Nanny won't come to TV Land until 2010, if at all. It is coming to Nick at Nite this spring.
JulieSomoski 12-23-2008, 03:32 PM The Nanny won't come to TV Land until 2010, if at all. It is coming to Nick at Nite this spring.
I wonder where Nick at Nite would even put it - they seem very contempt with their 9-midnight schedule (they haven't changed it since Family Matters joined). My guess would be somewhere past midnight, or maybe at 9pm replacing Home Improvement.
MikeLutton 12-23-2008, 03:45 PM the nanny sucks worst show ever not even entertaining nan wil never change

Scoobiedoo30 01-09-2009, 09:50 PM I cant wait to watch Green Accress weekday's at 3:00 pm and 3:30 pm CT Time.
JulieSomoski 01-09-2009, 10:00 PM I'm really sick of these last-minute schedule changes. It's just annoying at this point - why not just keep one schedule and stick to it? No wonder ratings have to be low for them. No one knows when anything is on at any time during the day-LOL
TeeVeeCloset 01-12-2009, 02:28 PM Frankly I'm kinda done with the TV Land bashing, as I've been completely done with them for years, but since I debated this whole "TV Land Prime" block thing months ago, I thought I would follow up with the recent announcement of again a heavy "Andy Griffith" prime schedule ..several months back it was explained that Andy's ratings were mainly people in their 50's...yes not TV's most wanted demographic....well....I scoffed at the time saying these shows are timeless proven evergreens and are discovered by generation after generation....if you went by the theory that only the original audiences watch those shows.. then lucy, andy, etc would have been absent from the airwaves long ago....I also pointed out that shows like Three's Company wouldn't even have been an interest to people Pav's age, you know I love & respect you pav....well now Andy returns to prime, so much for that argument, it was credible then because TV Land research showed it?....lets all admit TV Land and the viacom channels are in serious trouble and create program schedules on a whim and play with the demo's when it serves their purpose only....I was never going to buy the premise that only older people or their original audiences were going to watch andy......build it and they will come, unless its crappy reality on a classic TV channel!
ekkostar 01-14-2009, 07:21 AM TV Land is looking pretty bleak these days. I remember when most of my primary TV watching was done between TV Land and FX. Now TV Land is playing the same crap they were playing 7 years ago and FX shows more movies and less actual television. It also seems like Spike and Adult Swim are getting most of FX's old syndicated programming.

I understand what you mean. I used to spend most of my tv watching with Lifetime and MTV but now neither of those play the shows i like anymore and have replaced those shows with shows i have no interest in watching.
Also, years ago FOX was my favorite tv network, but they've abandoned totally the kind of shows i watch. Only "Bones" is left on FOX that i watch. But back in the day half my favorite shows were on FOX.
MikeLutton 01-16-2009, 03:34 AM fx use to air A Team Greatest American hero fal guy stuff like that do u think adult swim and spike tv wil get them just wondering
Pavan 01-21-2009, 05:48 PM Viacom cross promotion:

I'm starting to get tired of these cross-promotions. Who really wants to see a VH1 show air on TV Land?
