NEW YORK (AP)—The World Series champion Philadelphia Phillies will host the Atlanta Braves in Major League Baseball’s 2009 opener on April 5.

The Sunday night game, originally scheduled for the following day, will be broadcast on ESPN2, the commissioner’s office said Monday.

Most other teams start play on April 6.


-Great news. Hopefully Hamels starts the first game for once too, especially considering what he did in the playoffs. Gets to finally start a season opener for us.

On another note, the team just traded minor league second base prospect Greg Golson & the team is closing in on short term & long term deals with their unrestricted free agents and players.
