Am I the only one who loses a lot of hair in the shower? It doesn't come out in clumps, more like one or two strands at a time but apparently this is common. I just want to make sure I'm not the only one this happens to. I have A LOT of thick hair so I'm sure the amount I lose is nothing.

I read before that men and women lose an averge of 100 strands of hair a day, but it grows back. That seems a little hard to believe. I seem to shed hair more in the spring and summer. I always wear a headband or put my hair in a ponytail when I cook.

i lost the most in the summer, it'd come out as i straightened it.
maybe i notice it more now since i got my hair thinned a lot.

For some reason there's never any hair in the drain after I shower. If I didn't know any better, I'd think my hair was super glued to my head.

No, I lose a ton once I run my hands through my hair when I put conditioner in and yet my hair is still wicked thick. It's normal, we all shed our hair.

Women going almost bald runs in a family that I know very well. You can see their scalp on top, and the sides. I feel bad when I see a woman who has lost or is losing her hair. You see a lot of older women wearing wigs as many women's hair tends to thin as they age. Alopecia (going bald) is fairly common in women. I'd hate it to happen to me, but I know it can. My mother's hair was thinning the last few years of her life. It could have been all the medicine she was taking, as that's often a side effect.

Brad, you'll NEVER go bald. You have a great head of hair. :) Does your Dad have all his hair, although they say we get our hair genes from our Mom, or something like that.

I lose a lot of hair while I am washing my hair. I have clogged the drain in my bathtub, more than once; but, my hair is not thinning. Actually, my hair is thicker than ever!!!

it's actually been said that our hair genes come evenly from both sides.

if i ever go bald i am definitely wearing a wig. ;)

And that is one of the reasons why I buzz my head now. I shed like a mother****er when my hair is longer. It's really kind of ridiculous. One of my friends, who has CRAZY DENSE hair and doesn't seem to lose any hair, once said to me "Holy **** woman, you SHED like crazy!" ... "Yeahhhhh, I know. Sorry..." Heh.

Thanks!!!! :D Yeah my dad is in his fifties now, and he still has a thick full head of hair. My mom on the otherhand loses her hair like crazy, but fortunately I seemed to get my hair gene from my dad. I don't want to jinx myself though, so I'm definitely not going to gloat about it.

Hey why not, lol. That's what a lot of balding men do when they're losing their hair. A bald head looks better than the Trump combover.

I've seen your hair. I don't think you have anything to worry about. You have very nice hair.

Yep. And I'm breaking the gender stereotype while doing it too. I don't know that I'll have thinning hair, but at least I'm not lint-rolling my clothes for shedded hair before I step out.

God, I wish Donald would just embrace his baldness! WE KNOW YOU'RE BALD, SO JUST CUT THE COMB-FRONT OFF AND BE DONE WITH IT.

That's what my dad did. Ever since I was little I remember him getting more and more bald as the years went on, and then one day he said screw it, and shaved it all off.

I bet he never regretted it either. You have beautiful hair Ashlee, so long and thick. I think certain shampoos cause hair to fall out. Fructis or whatever it's called makes my hair come out in bunches, so I threw it out, lol.

I'd wear a wig.
But then again I am much too shallow and vain for my own good.

Pantene did it for me. Haven't used it since 2002, I think. And I refuse to use it.

Thank you. :) My dad's hair was really thick too, and so is my mom's. I think his losing hair was really all about genes, though. It was always receeding.

But that's the thing, I guess I don't worry about my hair falling out in the shower because I have so much of it lol (hell, I embrace it...thick hair can be a pain). Besides, I really do think it's normal anyway. I guess it would be more of an issue with guys.

lol. what i want to know is why so many guys freak out when they are going bald, if they can just buy a convincing wig.

Hope I don't offend anyone, but I think it's all an ego thing. If they lose their hair, they lose part of their manliness...I guess. It belongs to them and suddenly they can't have it anymore if that makes sense. lol, that's if you want to get all psychological about it.

see, for me i'd be so concerned that women (and men) would find other men with hair more attractive than me if i lost mine, so i'd wear a wig so to anyone who didn't know, it'd look like i had hair.

Yeah, feelings like that are probably another aspect to the insecurity. But I don't think you have anything to worry about for awhile, if at all. :)

happens to me too. i don't think i lose much, but it's still pretty bad on the drain since the strands are over three feet long.

haha. my maternal grandfather is bald, my dad still has most of his hair but has a receding hairline, and my paternal grandfather had a full head of hair. and everyone on my maternal grandmother's side had all their hair, and a LOT of it too. but my uncle on my dad's side has been bald since age 20.
