On your DVDs? If it is a slim pack I gently cut the side with an exacto knife as to leave the plastic intact. What do you do? :wave:

i do the same - if I can leave the plastic on, I do.

Mine comes right off! I appreciate that leaving it on would keep the boxset in better condition, but I'm all about shelf presentation. ;)

I don't keep the plastic on, but I wish I did . My 2 year old ripped the front cover of my Three's Company boxset. Believe me, I was NOT HAPPY. I taped it back together but it's still not the same. :(

You should remove the shrink wrap for the very same reason you should remove it from vinyl albums, sort of. Shrink wrap can expand and contract with temperature change, even SLIGHT change, and can warp your covers and your discs if left long enough. I know you can buy protective sleeves for your albums, and I'm wondering if anyone has thought of that for DVDs yet. But seriously, you can damage your presentation boxes and your cases, and possibly your DVDs by leaving the shrink wrap on. The shrink wrap exists partially to keep your dvds looking good for you IN THE STORE, and partially as theft deterrent. That's all.

Then clearly you have either gotten very lucky over the years, or you have kept your LPs in a cool, dry, climate controlled place.

I watched Antiques Road Show and they showed us. Shrink wrap will keep shrinking. They showed us a deformed box with the shrink wrap still on it. I always take the shrink wrap off, because I do not want my DVD's get ruined by the shrink wrap.

Wow, that's interesting. I had no idea that could happen. Thanks for the good information! I always just tear the wrapper off. Once I tried to open an album and leave the plastic on it. It worked for a while, but then it started to tear, so I just ripped it all off. I'm not a collector, anyway. I just loved the music! Same with the DVD's and movies/shows. The only reason I would keep it is to make sure it is in good condition in case I need to take it to the store for an exchange.
