Anyone have bad bank experiences?

Anyone have problems with Washington Mutal bank?

My mother and I were at a local bank branch earlier today and the employees were so rude to us. My mother was depositing money into her banking account from money that came from me. Instead of the lady counting it and doing the transation in front of us, to put the money into her account she made us wait while she went into another room. That really bugged us. I didn't like how we couldn't watch her to make sure she didn't rip us off. We tried to stand outside the room she was in, but she got nasty and told us we had to go away. Finally another employee asked her what the problem was. We told her and she sided with her co-worker. I don't think that's right. When we brought up the fact that their branch "claims to be a friendlier one" they didn't care at all. The response we got was "oh well." I guess since that chain of banks is going out of business they just don't care about customers. Whatever happened to customer service (being friendly) and the customer being right? Thanksfully we didn't get ripped off, but we could have.

That's pretty messed up that they'd act that way towards you and your mom. I've heard of the post office and DMV acting that way, but rarely have I heard of a bank acting like that. Like you said, it might have been because they're going out of business, but that's no excuse to treat a customer that way. :nonono:

I would go back to the bank, ask to speak with the manager, and explain in a calm, but serious way how you were treated. If you get treated the same way again and he/she doesn't apologize, if I were you I would withdraw all my money and close my accounts there. Have them give you a certified check for your entire balance and find a better bank that knows how to treat customers. You do not have to put up with that, Jenny.

Yeah, that was very rude. I would have insisted that the employee count the money in front of me. If she wouldn't comply, I would have counted the money in front of her. Since when are banks on the honor system when it come to counting money. Sorry you had a such a lousy experience.

And in addition, some banks have lousy workers, attitude and profession wise, so they take it out unfairly on the customers. Some people make common mistakes which is fine but some insist that the customer is doing something illegal.

OH Nuts!

and/or find out who the CEO or Regional Branch Manager is and send them a letter...being sure to insert the names of anyone who treated you nicely. The unmentioned (rude) staff members will stand out in an understated way & believe me people in charge will easily figure out who they were.

Once I got very rude treatement from a teller and I went back the next day and asked for the Branch Manager. The BM turned out to be very nice and concerned and said she was going to have a talk with the teller who mistreated me.

Sure, The only time that I had to go into another room to make a deposit/witdraw was when it was a very large amount of money. But they invited me to come along and she counted it out loud in front of me. I would definately talked to the manager. At least you did not get ripped off so that is good. :dollar:

I'd go back and talk to the manager if I were you. I know dealing with the general public all day can be a real pain, but there's still absolutely no excuse for bad customer service.

I love my bank, but I'm sick of the service at my local grocery store. I've tried speaking to the manager, but have gotten no results. They're the only grocery store in town.
