Fugu is the Japanese cuisine name for the poisonous pufferfish dish.

It is prepared by highly trained Japanese chefs and there are only a handful of Japanese restaurants in the United States qualified to serve it. New York has the most, 13 restaurants, and there are a handful around Washington D.C. and California where there is a huge Japanese population.

If not served properly the eater dies in a matter of hours or days. The toxins inside the fish causes paralysis and the eater dies from asphyxiation.

Have any of you out there ever had this dish before? Would you ever want to try it?

I actually tried it once. Me and a group of friends were in NY and wanted to try something completely different. WE love sushi, so we decided to give this restaurant a try. It was surprisingly good.

I would definitely love to try it again!!

Same here! I'm not a seafood fan, anyway.

me neither! i'm not too big on seafood, unless it's cooked REALLY well & i can barely taste it.
