The fourth season release date was announced two months after the release of the third season, so the current silence (3+ months) is admittedly a little concerning.

I haven't heard anything, but I hope that we hear good news soon!!

I hope that Paramount releases the fifth season because I'm probably going to buy it. I think the episodes where Mallory and Alex are both attending college are probably the best. Though I think the fourth season is my overall favorite.

The third season was my favorite - with the Keaton Manor and "Lost Weekend" being tops. Fourth season on - the Tracy Pollan episodes were classics - especially when Alex auditions for her ballet recital. :rofl:

Monika, what did you think of the episodes Don't Kiss Me I'm Only The Messanger, Cold Storage and Auntie Up? Those are my favorites from the third season. Of course Don't Kiss Me, I'm Only The Messanger is my favorite of the series. :)

They were all right. I just liked the other ones better - when that kid staying in the Keaton Manor demanded a massage and then kicked Skippy I almost fell off the couch laughing. :rofl:

Yeah, I much perferred Alex with Ellen then with Lauren. Michael J. Fox and Tracy Pollan had great chemistry. Alex's audition was hysterical. I love how he combined gymnastics, Jennifer Beals from Flashdance, Chcuk Berry and Angus Young from AC/DC. :lol:

I just checked Season 5 out of the library and am enjoying it so far...not as much as the other seasons, but it's fun. I'm on the "poetry club" episode right now.

I'm just wondering is there something particular about Season 5 that makes you like it less than the other seasons? The poetry episode is a good episode. Too bad she didn't dump Nick for Collen. Granted, imo, Skippy was the best choice, but Collen would have been better than Nick. Then again anyone would have been better than Nick, imo.

Way too many 2-parters...and one devoted almost entirely to flashbacks. It just didn't seem quite as funny as seasons past. But I just started Disc 3, so when I'm done with the whole thing, I'll let you all know my thoughts. I do enjoy how they seem to be developing Nick as a character and the family seems to like him more (Moore?). :D

I barely remember the Lauren eps (I think I only saw them when they ran the first time). What happened to his boss at the bank, Rebecca?? :lol: Yes, Alex and Ellen were magical together. Their chemistry was off the charts, and real - as Michael J. Fox and Tracy Pollan continue to prove after over 20+ years of marriage. Yes, Ellen really was Alex's true love. :love:

No. I couldn't stand Nick. I have nothing against the actual actor Scott Valentine. The character Nick, however, was very annoying in my opinion. He was incredibly dumb. He held Mallory back. I think that she would have done much better without him. He was the kind of guy who never progressed. A perfect example is the Higher Love episode. Mallory couldn't even have an intelectual conversation with Nick. Nick didn't have a clue as to what she was even talking about. When he showed up at her poetry group meeting he started drinking out of the carton like an animal. :lol: Part of what I didn't like about Nick was his appearance. His hair, clothes, etc. made him look unkempt and disshelved. I didn't like the way he spoke.

Like I said it's nothing against the actor himself, it's the character that was the problem. If the Nick spin-off had worked out that would have been good because then he wouldn't have stayed on Family Ties.

I've known a few Colin types myself...the less said, the better. :eek: I enjoyed Jennifer and her girl group, when they sang "Mr. Sandman". I loved how Skippy went "Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees?" :rofl:

I'm just about done with S5 and I have to say it's my least favorite so far. It's not bad or anything, but nothing really stood out to me. I haven't seen the other two seasons yet. Is this basically where the show begins to run out of gas, or are the other two seasons better?

Season 6 will introduce Courteney Cox who played Lauren Miller. She played Alex's girlfriend for Seasons 6 & 7. I would recommend giving both seasons a chance. There are great episodes in both seasons. I think the biggest thing that stood out in my mind in Season 5 was the addition of Brian Bonsall as Andy. Also the other thing that stood out was the Mallory started college in Season. Sorry to hear that you haven't really enjoyed Season 5.

There is a Season 2 episode that has not been included yet on the Family Ties dvd sets. I assume that it will be included in the Season 6 dvd set, if and when the last two seasons are released.The episode I'm referring to is called Annivesary Waltz. A very good episode. It's funny. It was produced during the second season, but didn't air until later on in the series run.

I agree. That was a good episode. Also in Band On The Run episode Mallory has a fashion project and borrows Steven's closet. He ends up having to dress on the porch. :lol: The episode Higher Love is also a good episode that has to do with Mallory being in college and in a poetry group.

Me-TV in Chicago just finshed up with season five a few weeks ago I think its a really good season. Though not quite as good as season four. I think that the highlight for me is the two part episode "A, My Name Is Alex". I think it was beautifully written and features a great perfromace by Michael J. Fox. I also really like the two-parter, "Mrs. Wrong". That's a funny two-part episode. Another two-parter, "O'Brother" is really good as well.

My favorite episode from season six happens to be another two-parter, "Father Time", in which Uncle Rob and his two children visit. "Daer Mallory" is also really good. "Citizen Keaton" where Mallory runs for student body president is another really good one. "The Play's the Thing" is funny as well.

Nick was a bit of a slob. :lol: I like him though. I think he really cared about Mallory. What was also interesting was that on the surface, they seemed totally mismatched. Mallory was a really great dresser and Nick was a bum. I think that is something that made their relationship interesting. I also don't think that Nick really held Mallory back. After all, she did go to college, and despite what Alex may say, she did really well there. Nick on the other hand was a high school drop out. I think if Nick had really held Mallory back, they would have gotten married right after her high school graduation and she never would have gone to college. Still, I think you made good points in your post. :)
