I didn't see that particular week myself, but according to this guide right here, that week aired in March 1988.

I know Allen Ludden is doing flips at the cemetary of the poor representation of Password. The celebrity players are lousy. Betty White is not as sharp of a player as she was back in the day. I long for those days of Elizabeth Montgomery, Bill Bixby, Carol Burnett and many other great celebrity Password players from back in the day.

Is it true that Million Dollar Password is cancelled?

Seems like it:

I still don't get this one. Why cancel a show pulling in 10 million viewers? The demo was low (a little less than a 2.0), but still, during the holiday season when the show aired, that's not that bad. CBS would be stupid to cancel this show, let alone pull it from the schedule so abruptly.

And it always seemed to rank in the top 25 shows of the week. Heck, CBS should have just left this as a summer offering......we need fun shows to watch then!

Wasn't it in the top 20 for all its airings this winter, too? CBS should have expected low demos for a show like this, but still, they didn't have to yank it with only 2 episodes left to air.

And I definitely agree - it should have been left for a summer show. I still don't see why CBS can't do that. Why do they HAVE to cancel it for some reason?

I've got a better idea. Somebody call me once the Barney Miller Week airs again!! ;)

Seriously, I'd love to see the classic episodes, with Allen Ludden as hosts and guest stars such as Elizabeth Montgomery, Paul Lynde, Carol Burnett, etc. Not to mention Mrs. Allen Ludden herself (Betty White)!!

Actually , what I meant Cat, was that I'd like to see all-new shows, but, with the original FORMAT...more game, less "money round"

Even the Password Plus format would work too. Another main problem is there's too much applause and noise. The last episode with Betty White I watched she had to scream her answers. Plus the add-ins of Regis saying 'one more to go' etc is obnoxious.

Really? I saw nothing wrong with Regis Philbin hosting at all (or any other show he hosted in addition to "Live With Regis & Kelly" for that matter).

Speaking of Millionaire, is the syndication version hosted by Meredith Viera still around?

don't take that as a dislike of Regis by me. I find his hosting style distracting for this type of game.

and yes, Monika, the syndicated version with Meredith is still around and still doing well.

I agree Jude, I love Regis, but he is very brash and kind of has a loud personality - that apparently involves yelling every few words. I enjoy it much more with Allen who was much more formal and low key.

I have to agree - Regis was great on Millionaire, you can't deny that. But Password is not Millionaire. I think it's because of Regis that you get the sense that MDP just isn't the same - of course, it's also the flashy set, the loud audience, and the different gameplay.

Speaking of Millionaire, can you believe the syndi-verision is still going strong? It's still a regular top 20 performer for syndicated shows, and has been all 8 years. I wonder how Deal or No Deal's been doing in daytime . . .

DoND started out ok, but I think it is really on the bubble for renewal in syndication. I'm sure GSN will pick up the reruns (both primetime and syndie) and run them into the ground like they did with primetime Millionaire.
