Not sure who caught this episode last Sunday night on WGN, but it was hilarious. Dick is asked to host a program called "Book Beat" and thinks his first guest is going to be a famous author. When the guy doesn't show, Michael (Peter Scolari) books another noted "author", a former Army general who has written a book on his experiences. As Dick starts to interview him live on the air, it becomes apparent that this general believes there are still dinosaurs on a remote island fighting it out with extraterrestrial aliens, that the airwaves are controlled by the Soviet Union, and the picture he has as 'evidence" is a blurry black and white photo. Dick sits there with an uncomfortable smile on his face as he slowly realizes his "guest" is completely insane. At the end of the show Dick smiles into the camera and says, "I QUIT". As he is walking off the stage, the "author" shouts "So how long YOU been in the KGB, Dick???"

That was a funny episode, one of many from this great sitcom. Bob Newhart is a legend. The thing I always loved about this show was how Dick was always written as a guy trying to be as straight and normal as possible amid some delightfully weird characters (Larry, Darryl, and Darryl, anyone?)
