Los Angeles (E! Online) – Multiple reliable sources have just confirmed that NBC has given the ax today to My Own Worst Enemy (starring Christian Slater) and Lipstick Jungle (starring Brooke Shields, Kim Raver and Lindsay Price).

NBC is not commenting. However, insiders say that no further episodes have been ordered for either series.

Despite a promising premise, Enemy never got off the ground in the Nielsens. Lipstick too, struggled to find a wide audience, despite a small but devoted fanbase and having received a second chance for a sophomore season. (Lipstick's first season was cut short by the writers strike.)

One upside to these cuts?

This clears the way for more appreciation of Joss Whedon's upcoming series Dollhouse, which has a somewhat similar premise to Enemy (agents who have implanted and wholly fabricated personas).

Still, in this season of lackluster newbies, it's a shame that an interesting and complex (though ultimately flawed in execution) series like Enemy couldn't make it work.

I'm also told by insiders that NBC hopes to work with Slater again. So the good news is this is probably not the last we've seen of him on TV.

Man, that sucks.

I enjoyed My Own Worst Enemy.

Looks like I was one of the only people watching it.

i was just starting to get into it, its too bad they aren't going to stick it out a little longer - I guess with so many shows slumming it in the ratings, NBC has to start dumping some of them.

What I really hate is that the new Knight Rider is a terrible show, but NBC is keeping that around and trying to retool it to bring ratings up. Both shows were low rated, but NBC keeps the crappy one.

That is a shame, since the show was received so well by the critics...

Sounds like what happened with Back to You last year. Til Death, although not the better show, was kept. And the retool of Back to You wasn't any good!

I know.
NBC must have a ton invested with Knight Rider that they haven't canned it yet. They'll probably owe Ford lots of dough in add revenue since the show is nothing but a 60 minute Ford commercial.
Go to any other website that reviews TV shows. It's unanimous. Knight Rider is a big stinker. Yet NBC is cutting half the cast and retooling the show in an effort to keep it alive. It makes no sense.
