I vacationed to Hyderabad in 1988, to visit relatives, and remember having similar problems finding things to watch on tv. The only great thing about Indian television is the commercials. They are freaking hilarious. Other than that, there was never anything to watch, and I ended up watching some movie I brought with me over and over again. I also remember going to the local movie theater almost daily. Even though I had no idea what was going on in any of the movies because none of them were in English, I went simply because there was air conditioning there, and that to me was worth the price of admission. I also had trouble finding things to eat there, and ended up losing about 10 pounds. I also remember trying to go outside and teach kids who were playing cricket how to play baseball, but they hated it and said it was way too different, even though I didn't see much of a difference. Anyway, needless to say, I was very happy to come back to the States. I remember coming back home on a Sunday night, and even though I was worn out from jet lag, I decided to stay up and watch an episode of MWC.
