Police Tell TMZ That Woman May Be Alleged Stalker
The dead body of a woman found near Paula Abdul's house in Los Angeles Tuesday night might be the alleged stalker of the "American Idol" judge, police sources told TMZ.com.
According to the celebrity gossip site, police sources believe they have been to Abdul's house "numerous times before" to deal with the woman.
The woman was found dead in a car, just yards from Abdul's home, police sources told TMZ, and the cause of death may have been a drug overdose.
Abdul's representatives told TMZ that Abdul knows who the woman is.
An LAPD representative said the parents of the woman believed that she was a "big fan" of Abdul's.
Police have not yet identified the woman. No foul play is suspected in the case.

MonarC 11-12-2008, 01:48 PM Fan Found Dead Outside Paula Abdul's House
A woman described as being obsessed with Paula Abdul has been found dead after apparently killing herself in a car parked outside the American Idol judge's hillside home, police confirm to E! News.
Los Angeles police officers found the body around 6 p.m. Tuesday in the 3800 block of Beverly Ridge Drive in Sherman Oaks. The cause of death appears to be a suicide, and the body has been transported to the county coroner for autopsy.
Abdul's camp tells E! News that she is aware of the incident and plans to release a statement later today, after finishing up some Idol taping.
Authorities have not released the name of the 30-year-old woman, but say she seemed to be fixated on the "Forever Your Girl" singer.
"She has a history of mental illness," Capt. Ross Bonfiglio of the Ventura County Sheriff's Dept. tells E! News.
Family members in Thousand Oaks, Calif., reported the woman missing Tuesday around 3 p.m., Bonfiglio says.
Ventura County officials, aware of the woman's interest in Abdul, then informed their counterparts in Los Angeles.
While she had no prior arrests, her family did ask the LAPD and L.A. County Sheriff's Dept. to locate her after she went missing in January. Bonfiglio says the family was concerned at the time that she might try to harm herself.
browneyes106 11-12-2008, 03:45 PM This story is really creepy. I'm not a not huge Paula fan but I do feel bad for her and other celebrities because they constantly have to deal with stalkers and sometimes the safety of their loved ones is threatened too.

I do too - just couldn't resist the crack because of the title of the thread.
Sad - it sounds as though the fan committed suicide near Paula's house to "get back at her" or something. Mental illness is killing so many people these days.
MonarC 11-12-2008, 04:22 PM So sad. :(

MonarC 11-12-2008, 06:51 PM Paula Abdul "Deeply Shocked" by Fan's Death
A woman described as being obsessed with Paula Abdul has been found dead after apparently killing herself in a car parked outside the American Idol judge's hillside home.
"I am deeply shocked and saddened by what transpired yesterday," Abdul told E! News. "My heart and prayers go out to her family."
The county coroner has identified the victim as 30-year-old Paula Goodspeed, a fifth-season Idol auditioner with a long fixation on the "Forever Your Girl" singer.
"She has a history of mental illness," said Capt. Ross Bonfiglio of the Ventura County Sheriff's Dept.
While poilce say the cause of death appears to be a suicide, the official pronouncement won't be made for several weeks, pending the outcome of toxicology tests.
Goodspeed's family members in Thousand Oaks, Calif., reported the woman missing Tuesday around 3 p.m., said Bonfiglio.
The family member who notified authorities said Goodspeed hadn't been seen since 11 p.m. Monday night. The family member also expressed concern that Goodspeed might possibly overdose.
Ventura County officials, aware of Goodspeed's interest in Abdul, then informed their counterparts in Los Angeles, who found the woman's body about three hours later in the 3800 block of Beverly Ridge Drive in Sherman Oaks.
While Goodspeed had no prior arrests, her family did ask the LAPD and L.A. County Sheriff's Dept. to locate her after she went missing in January. Bonfiglio said the family was concerned at the time that she might try to harm herself.
MonarC 11-13-2008, 06:58 PM Brother: Dead Paula Abdul Fan Was Not Stalker
The family of Paula Goodspeed is coming to her defense following her apparent suicide outside Paula Abdul's home earlier this week.
"She was not a stalker," Charles McIntyre, Goodspeed's only brother, told E! News Thursday.
McIntyre, who lives with his family in Oakland, Maine, said his sister moved to California five years ago with only one dream: to be a star. "She went down there to have a career, and when she went down in front of those American Idol judges, it was over," said McIntyre. "She was just like anyone else, trying to make it big as an actor or singer."
McIntyre said their mother and Goodspeed's boyfriend are in L.A. waiting for the body to be released from the coroner's on Saturday. The funeral will take place in Maine.
As E! News reported yesterday, Goodspeed was a fan of Abdul since she was a kid. But her brother insisted, "It wasn't excessive like they said on TV."
Despite her disastrous Idol audition and Simon Cowell's predictably withering remarks, McIntyre said he never knew his sister to be depressed. "It did hurt her feelings, but I've never known Paula to be suicidal," said McIntyre.
"She didn't have any mental problems, as far as I know," he said, attempting to refute comments made by law enforcement officials.
"My sister doesn't' have a criminal record, she's clean as clean," McIntyre continued. "She doesn't even have a traffic violation."
McIntyre said his sister claimed she had even met with Abdul personally. "She told me she had coffee with Paula Abdul at a restaurant in 2005," said McIntyre.
Goodspeed, 30, was the youngest sibling in a family of five children.
"She was a great girl," said McIntyre. "I miss my baby sister."

yeah, it irks me when people conclude that fans of celebrities are 'stalkers' just because they're very obsessed. stopping by her house could have just been a one-time thing for her suicide, as creepy as it still is. she could have been a stalker, i don't know, but based on what information we have, i've seen bigger threats to celebrities' privacy on this very board (http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/showthread.php?t=22137).
JamesG 11-15-2008, 12:11 AM How do people know this is a suicide and not accidental death?
I see people saying (here and elsewhere) it was a suicide but all that I see is that she had an overdose.

Good point. You've been watching CSI haven't you?! ;)
True tho - we've assumed. If she had an ongoing drug problem then it could well just be an overdose. Wonder if we'll hear of autopsy results.
browneyes106 11-15-2008, 01:28 AM I watched Entertainment Tonight earlier and it was mentioned the autopsy results should be released in two weeks. It was also mentioned Paula Goodspeed's birth name is Sandra and she changed her name fifteen years ago.
InspectorExstead 11-15-2008, 01:35 AM :( how sad. she was so young too. i agree with what everyone's saying; just because she really likes paula abdul doesn't mean she's a stalker.
