It won't be on the list since it's not in the States, but Toronto is a fabulous city to grown up in and around.

Still fairly safe and clean with lots of opportunties and things to do.

And we have a great hockey team to laugh at! ;)

They picked Huntsville for Alabama, which is about 45 minutes from where I live. I think more people would rather raise their kids here, but no one asked me ;)

My dad grew up near Arcadia, CA in the Hastings Ranch area of Pasadena, it's definitely a nice area but I wouldn't place it up above Pasadena itself, Irvine, Lake Forest, Cypress, Laguna Beach, Rancho Palos Verdes, Rolling Hills, or Calabasas.

LOL @ Monterey Park being the runner-up for California. HELL NO! That place is is right next to Alhambra and the so-so area of East L.A. No thanks.

I was in Huntsville several years ago. Nice town from what I remember.

Murfreesboro was too (Tenn.'s town), but that was way back in 1992.

They picked Gilbert, AZ which is the next town over from me. It used to be a nice quiet country town but now the crime rate has gone up since a zillion people have moved there.

They've gotta be kidding about Malden, MA. That place is a DUMP! I guess it's not as bad as places like Lawrence, Dorchester, and Lynn, but I wouldn't want to raise kids there.

The towns I've been in:

Iowa - West Des Moines. It's mostly full of rich snobs, but it seems to me that their schools are a little better than the ones I work in. But maybe that's because I don't work there and see everything.

Iowa Runner Up - Ames. I went to school there. It's a nice little town as long as you stay away from Campus Town at night.

Kansas - Overland Park and Runner-Up Olathe. Always liked this area. It's about the only place I'd move to. OP is BUSY, but liveable.

Minnesota - Eagan. Which may actually be pronounced EEE - gen, unlike all the other towns up there that sound different than they're spelled. Anyway, didn't see much of it, but they have a yummy Chinese restaurant there.

Missouri - Lee's Summit. Also a place where wealthy people live. Seems like it should be on the KS side, because IMO, the towns on the KS side are nicer than the towns on the MO side, with the exception of KC, KS.

Nebraska - Omaha. I like KC better, but it's a decent big town to get away in. Neat zoo. And it's about the only redeaming thing about NE. Never seen Lincoln, but I don't want to, seeing as I'm a big ANTI- Cornhusker. Same reason Iowa City could disappear and I wouldn't care. F*** the Hawkeyes.

The fact they called the Idaho state capital "Boise City" threw me for a loop since (1) I've always known it to be just plain "Boise," and (2) there exists a city called "Boise City", in the panhandle of Oklahoma, to be exact--that one is pronounced "boys city", by the way.
