God bless the ones that came home safe and god bless the guys who still have yet to come home. The ones who are dead are already blessed, they definatley went a much more peaceful home.

In Canada, we wear poppies to remember our war veterns. It comes from this poem written in 1915 by Major John McCrae and has been passed down ever since. McCrae died 3 yrs later as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1918.

In Flanders Fields
by John McCrae, May 1915

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep,
though poppies grow
